I had the same problem and sent it in for repair. they said it worked fine for them, but they had their own power supply. instrumental parts dot com sells power supplies but the last time i ordered they were 2 months waititng.
The CD Mix-1 had a "tap" button for the BPM counter, but the CD Mix-2 doesn't have the BPM feature. They both use the same LCD screens, though, so while you can see the "BPM" on the screen, it is not a function that is included. Why Numark did this is beyond me. I had a CD Mix-1, and while primitive, the BPM 'tap" button worked just fine.
HERE YA GO!! GOOD OLD FASHIONED BEATING FIXED MINE... I PROMISE THIS. When you turn on your CDX... HIT THE SQUARE AREA where the play button and the cue buttons are located. It will jump to CDX on the screen and work fine. Mine did this and i messed around with bumping it and stuff and figured this out
I would remove the back panel, and get access to the soldering of the connectors that are giving you trouble. resolder them, and see how you go. Get back to me here if this does not cure it and we shall get into it further
