The switch at the top that turns the light on also tells the electronics to count how many seconds the door is open, then the beeping starts. Our unit's switch fell inwards (if that makes sense) and needed re-fixing. Had to remove the top section and dismantle. If I remember right (was a long time ago), I had to take out a printed circuit board to get to the switch housing. Remember something about the switch housing not fitted well or poor design, put another screw in it, something like that. Just make sure the MAINS is OFF before you go in - even then use caution, maybe charged capacitors that'll hurt. Hope this helps.

Hotpoint Future fridge freezer - freezer working well but top of the back of the fridge has a large build up of ice ??? And doesn't appear to be keeping the food cold enough

here are lots of things that can cause cooling problems. One of the most common causes of poor cooling in a frost free refrigerator is a defrost system failure. In such a case one or the other compartment may appear to be keeping proper temperature but that too may change in a short period of time. The fridge compartment's temperature rise is usually (but not always) the first to be noticed. Frost" and "Ice"
There is a difference between "frost" (a white, snow-like substance) and "ice" (usually clear and solid). When referring to what is seen during an inspection, please keep this distinction in mind as the possible causes for each are often very different. The Defrost System
Inspecting the (usually rear) wall of the freezer compartment for a frost build up is necessary. (In the case of many GE top freezer models, check the freezer's bottom panel.) If there is a frost coating on it, it is often a sign of excessive frosting beneath it. Sometimes however the evaporator cover panel will actually need to be removed (see the illustration below) before an excessive frost build will visible.
The refrigeration system's evaporator (cooling) coil is usually in the freezer compartment. This evaporator will periodically frost over and have to be defrosted by means of a heating system. When the defrost heating system fails, the frost can accumulate to such a degree that airflow throughout the appliance is hampered. There may be just enough air circulation to cool the freezer section but that will eventually stop too.

Back of freezer has frost and freezer wont cool to proper temp. icemaker etc also not working

Did you leave the freezer door open for a period of time while the refrigerator was running? Unplug and defrost the freezer manually with a hair dryer until all frost is removed inside and in back of the freezer. Reapply power and see if it will then cool/freeze properly. Let me know the results

Refrigerator barely cooling and freezer part isn't cooling at all

Can you feel the compressor top to see if too hot to keep your hand there? Tell me if the fan is running next to the compressor and if the evaporator fan is running. If the compressor and fan are running normally I need you to remove the cover over the evaporator inside the back of the freezer and see what the frost pattern looks like. (provide photo of evaporator frost pattern)? I can help you find the problem if you respond to my questions. Hopefully this is only a start relay overload and run capacitor. Try to upload photo here but if unable I will provide my contact info. Below is a photo of a refrigerator evaporator that shows that the refrigerator is leaking Freon. APPLIANCE 911 74bbe3be-3b56-4111-ae2b-7d0d2139a639.jpg

I have samsung rfg297aarsxaa it was blinking -2 the refrigerator stays in cool enough zone unless the door is opened too long. The freezer often is warmer than frige sometimes the freezer will go down

There are 6 buttons on your display. If you hold the top left one and the middle right one at the same time you turn it into forced defrost. You push the middle right button 2 more times to initiate both coils. The unit should start beeping and can not be shut off unless you unplug it. Check behind the unit in the main board with a amp clamp on the thick wires and see if you're pulling 3 or more amps off the thick orange wire. Or which everyone is labeled heater on the board. If this is working and you're not having a lot of frost build up behind the back panels. Then you have a sealed system issue and I would check the frost pattern on the evaporator to make sure. Unplug it and plug it back in with the freezer back panels pulled down to see how the frost pattern is after 2 hours of running. If it's not completely frosted, check your owners manual because sealed system issues are usually good with samsung and they are covered by manufacturers for X years.

Kenmore refrigerator,bottom stoped cooling.freezer works just a little bit.8 years old.bought new.

More than likely your freezer has a ice block in it it will have a lot of frost on the inside of the freezer. This ice block is usually caused by a bad timer or a bad heating element in the freezer. The timer kicks in a timed cycle to turn on the heating element and a hi heat limit keeps it from getting to hot just hot enough to melt any frost and ice. (thats how we have frost free fridges now)

Vibrating noise comming from freezer, freezer not cooling well.

Check product storage and move any product that may be keeping the freezer door from closing properly. Vibrating noise could be from frost build-up in the area of the fan.
