Re: printer head ip 1500
Printhead is dead, and here Canon gotcha because a printhead for ip1500 is more expensive as the whole printer.
So kiss your printer good bye and get a new one, but at least this time get one that uses cartridges with printhead ON THE CARTRIDGE (like HP and Lexmark) or, if you are in love with Canon, take one that uses the cartridges PGI-5 for black and CLI-8 for color, they also have sepparate printhead from cartridge but it seams they are more durable. And easy to refill, as well!

Clean it manually by removing the black ink cartridge and rub the print head into a paper with rubbing alcohol until ink flows more. Then run the print nozzle to clean the print head thoroughly. After, try to print again.
If not, dip the print head only into hot water for 5 minutes and then run the print nozzle.
Your printer head might be blook. For the reason all the colour of ink does not come out through the printer head nozzels. In this condition you should try to come out ink through ink nozzels. procedure 1. print a nozzel cheak. and see what colour does'nt come out. 2. Now open photoshop and take a a4 page and fill it with six colour and print it 5/6 time in a photo paper. If print does not improve call me again. I will give you second tecnique. Thank you.
Hi, The nozzle may be blocked. So take out the colour cartridge and place its nozzle in a bit of water for about 10 mins. Bring it out and dab the nozzle with folded paper. If the tissue is blotted with the three colour it means you have unblocked the nozzle. Try now to print after returning the colour cartridge. You may need to repeat to get good results. Thank you!!
Hi, this is not a solution because I don't think there is one apart from buying new inks. Epson and all other inkjet printers do this to prevent the coloured print head nozzles from getting blocked. If they are not used for a long time the ink dries up and blocks the nozzles. Epson recommends printing at least once a month with all colours to prevent this. Printing in black only option will only work if the colored inks are OK. Whenever the printer is turned on it performs a head clean, this is why the coloured inks get used over time even though they are not used for printing.
You can try this, but maybe a new print head is needed. OK, Canon will hate me for posting this. 1. Remove ink cartridges 2. Remove print head 3. go to sink or tub (stainless steel, not plastic type), pick up a roll of paper towel on the way. 4. Fold several layers of paper towel and place on flat surface. 5. Run hot water until HOT! 6. Turn hot water back to a dribble. 7. Run the dribbling hot water through print head, be careful not to wet the gold contacts. 8.When water running through print head is clear, place print head on paper towel. 9. Repeat number 7 and 8 until no colour shows on paper towel. 10. Gently DAB print head (DO NOT WIPE) inside and out with dry paper towel until dry. 11. I normally replace print head after drying, but you may wish to let it air dry overnight. 12. Replace print head in printer and install cartridges 13. Start printing. I do this to all 4 of my Canon printers every 6 months or so. If any colour fails to print after this process it means your print head probably needs replacing.
Hi, I have question?
The ink that yuo are change are original epson cartidge ink?If yes , try to head cleaning twice and then nozzle check ,then the result of test print are soild in color are good , the unclean head having plenty spaces within the color in test print.
I found a solution to the Black printing problem :)
Under Printing Preferences: Set your Media Type to Photo Paper Pro.
We used edible ink cartridges and printed onto icing sugar paper. Same old... Just one day it refused to print black. In order to continue our small business, I degraded the color until I printed gray and not black.
Tonight, I browsed for the problem and came across this :)
