Question about RCA 20F420T 20" TV
I accidentally turned on the FPA lock on my roommates TV. I have researched it and I have found no solutions. The keys on the front of the TV do not work and I can not get the universal remote to work either. Should I buy the original remote or is there something else I could do? I prefer not to have to spend any money. But like I said its not mine, and I really do not want to have to buy them a new TV. PLEASE HELP ME!!
Most RCA and GE TV sets use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The code reset procedure is different depending on the model. Try each method until you find one that works:

If you have a universal rca remote or any rca remote this is what i did. go to the menu button, press preference button or scroll down to the preference button and go down to fpa lock to turn off.

If you lock yourself out of your RCA all you have to do is buy a RCA universal remote. At any walmart for about $10.00. The remote automatically connected to my TV got into menu and reversed the lockout.Good luck

It looks like you will need the RCA remote to unlock the FPA (front panel assembly). Hopefully you have one.

If you have Direct TV and their remote programmed to the TV this worked for me. Switch the Direct TV remote to the TV mode. Press the menu button. This brings up the RCA True Flat TV's menu. Using the chan/page button scroll down to preferences. Press the select button. This brings up the Preferences screen. Scroll down again with the chan/page button to FPA lock. Press the volumn button to select off. Press exit and then switch the Direct TV mode back to the left Direct TV mode. You are done.
