I have a GE XL44 gas stove. the oven only works when the stove top is on. the ignitor has been replaced x2. i dread turning the oven on. can you help me pleasea

The oven uses a silicone carbide ignitor which requires 3.6 amps or better to open the gas safety valve.
If you don't see any glow from it then it is either blown or the gas valve has gone bad. If it is glowing but not real bright it probably is weak.

Unplug the range.
Remove the oven racks.
remove the oven base pan.
remove the flame spreader pan.
remove the glow bar ignitor on the left hand side of the gas burner and replace it with a good ignitor.

I was thinking maybe you have a bad ignitor. Or maybe even a weak one. Take a look at that old ignitor. If he glows pretty brite he is alright, if he seems kinda dim replace him.

it's time to replace the oven ignitor.

try the gas valve behind the storage drawer. it may be closed. that was my problem.

I have XL44 oven JGBP26. I replaced the glow ignitore on the oven but still will not glow. I carfully tested the current to the ignitore and showed 125 volts, I also tested the resistance on the control valve lead and to ignitore and showed 1100.

Hi I have a GE X44 gas stove. The 4 top burners work just fine, but the oven no longer turns on. I don't see the blue flame inside the oven. Is it safe to relight the pilot light?????
