Sounds like a cross wired speaker, or a wire is touching either inside the speaker box, or the actual wires are touching at the terminals. this is simple to remedy unplug everything from receiver, then with it turned on and at a low but audible level. plug each one in till the problem occurs again. the time it occurs will say that you found the problem speaker. good luck. also manipulating wires often corrects any problem with wires touching accidentally.

sounds like your speakers might not match your receiver. check the back of your speakers for the ohms eg 4 , 6 ,8 impedance.
you have to match the specs of the receiver otherwise it cuts out.

Fan light turns on but doesn't turn off with remote also fan doesn't go on with remote

Make shure your batteries are good in the remote. Also some remotes have little dip switchers inside the battery cover that are either on or off. They must be in the same position as the dip switches on the receiver in the top canopy of the ceiling fan or the remote & receiver won't talk to each other. Apart from that you will probably need to replace the remote control & receiver unit.

My toyota corolla 2006 model has the maint. required lights on. what does that mean?

It means your car needs an oil change, based on mileage. If you take your car to get the oil changed, they can reset the light for you. If you want the light off now, try holding in the odometer reset button, with the key on but engine off, until little dashes appear then one by one dissapear. This procedure may need to be done either on the odometer total mileage or trip A mileage or trip B mileage.

Step 1: Have car off.

Step 2: Push and hold in trip reset button.

Step 3: While still holding button in, turn key to ON, but engine off. Wait for the little dashes to appear and disapear. If it doesn't work on the odometer setting. before turning key off, switch to Trip A setting. If the procedure doesn't work on the odometer setting or Trip A, try Trip B setting.

Step 4: Turn key off. Then start car. Maint. required light should be off.

I've borrowed a friend's Garmin for a trip and when I use the car charger, it doesn't display anything. Once I disconnect, it becomes visible again. I'm going on a long trip and worry. ...

Assuming there is power at the cigarette lighter jack - turn the Nuvi off - then connect the charger. It should display charging battery or charging complete.
If nothing - does it charge with the wall charger? If so check the fuse in the car charger - it's usually in the tip of the charger which can be turned to get the fuse out.

The power light blinks red! it can't turn On!

"If your 8002/7002 goes into protective mode (red power light flashing at two times per second) the receiver will not operate until it is reset. First try the reset procedure on the bottom right corner of page 81 in the manual.

If that doesn't work, press and hold the following three buttons on the front panel until the unit resets:

Pure Direct
7.1 Ch input
Clear

This latter procedure is not in the manual and I can't fathom why, as it can save the inconvenience of a trip to the service center."

Turned HK3470 system on and as soon as sound is

Look for shorts across the speaker terminals, too. If you have an ohmmeter, turn the receiver off, disconnect the speaker cables and measure across the output terminals for shorts.

Reset before trip completed

Hmmm, It has a stop navigation button, and it needs time and line of sight to the satellites to figure out where it is....somewhere in that fine manual that came with the device you can expand your knowledge of the fine workings of this nifty piece of electronics!
