Question about Creative Labs ZEN Vision:M Digital Media Player

1 Answer

Can't get the most out of rated hard disk drive capacity.

I can't seem to reach the full storage capacity of my Zen's 20 GB HDD. I even tried reformating several times and reloading my music and videos. The player's system information states that there is still about 1.8 GBytes free. What's going on? Is this normal?

My zen 30 gb player says hard disc problem. reset,re-boot tried all nothing works .have you got any idea to fix problem

With severe Disk problem, put your media player in USB disk mode and use Windows Explorer to attempt to repair it:
Open Windows Explorer -> drive 'Properties' -> Tools -> Error-Cheking -> Check now -> Tick all options -> Start
If errors are detected and repaired, some of the files will now be corrupted and you may need to re-install the firmware or do a 'hard reset'.
ps. If too many errors are detected, I would strongly suggest that you backup your player files to your PCLaptop if possible and re-FORMAT your player hard disk.

Ipod 30gig/more gigbits/ capacity expansion

Yes you can get up to 160 GB or more now.. If you want to keep the same iPod, you can have the hard drive replace with a 60 GB. You will also have to change the back and battery to accomodate the larger hard drive. There are a number of companies that will do it for you and some will even send you a postage paid box. Just do a Google search for ipod repair. Hope that helps.

Hard-disk Problem"... I'd just like to confirm once more that smacking the player on its right hand side while turning it on works.I had to smack it fairly hard though so don't be afraid!! I didn't try smacking it till I checked out the threads above so thanks everyone I'm a happy man again!! :) if it doesnt work then you have a bad drive.

Hard disk failure

you could try taking it apart and when you have the hard drive out remove the stickers off the drive, you will see a little hole that the drive arm moves across you can try to force the arm over to the park area, i have tried this on all my bad drives and have never gotten it to work but i have been told it does work.
What i do is replace the drive with a cf flash drive.

if it keeps on rebuilding the library the disk had a bad spot on it try going in to recover mode and do a clean if that doesn't work do a format if that doesn't work download the latest firmware if that doesn't fix you will need a new hard drive or flash drive.

Hard Drive problem

If it's making cliking noises then that's a sure sign of a dead hard drive. Probably the best thing you could do is get a new one, or call Nomad tech support and see what they have to say about it.
