Question about HP DeskJet 6840 InkJet Printer

Wireless is not working

For some reason the wireless status is disconnected. I am not having any luck getting this fixed.
I tried re-loading the software, no luck there. I re-booted the printer, nothing. I have run a cat 5 from the router to the printer, thinking that make a connection I could use to access the built in web sever. Nada.
Any ideas?

wireless printer was not working with an older router. replaced the router and it finds the printer and then loses the printer. will not keep the connection to the printer.

Make sure you are in infastructure mode vs as hoc mode if you are using a router. Go through the setup wizard on your printer and ensure you are connecting to your SSID (i.e. your network).

My printer wireless indicator is flashing red and I cannot print

The flashing status of the WiFi light on the printer indicates that it's either trying to connect to a wireless network or it has gotten disconnected from your wireless network.
A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, check the WiFi light status. Try to print again.

Blinking status

talk to your wireless manager about your problem. once my laptop didn't receive connection, and it took them a week to fix the problem and get the internet back.
you can also try unplugging the cable ot restarting the computer.

i wish you good luck.

1005he can not connect to wireless internet. have another laptop and not having same issue.

Hmmm - are you able to connect to other networks? are you getting a "no connectivity" message? Is wireless not showing at all? If the latter, have you tried checking that wireless is enabled? You may have accidently turned it off by hitting F2 key - can be put back on by hitting F2 again or through EEE PC Tray utility. If you are getting a "no connectivity" message or "limited connectivity", you can try shutting off the wireless and then putting it back on to force your netbook to search for the network again. If that doesn't work, try running the wireless network connection utility (I'm assuming you have Windows XP - if not, please let us all know) - open "Control Panel", click on "Network Connections", status of "Wireless Network Connection" should be "enabled" or "connected". If not, right click on "Wireless Network Connection" and choose "Repair". If that doesn't work, double click on "Wireless Network Connection" again to open the Wireless connection status window - the general tab lists status, network, duration, speed signal strenght, etc. - make a note of what it says here as you may need to post this info for more help. You can close this window. Now yet again right click on "Wireless Network Connection" and choose "Properties" to open another popup window - in the window, click on the "Wireless Networks" tab. The box next to "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings" should be checked. Your home network should be listed in the Preferred networks window - select it and click "Properties" and check that the correct information is entered for your home network (did you change anything recently? Password aka network key, encryption settings, network name - if so you have to reflect those changes here). If your home network is NOT listed, you need to create it. Click OK to save any changes you make, exit out of all the menus, then (if necessary) use F2 to disable and re-enable your wireless to force your netbook to look for the connection again. If this doesn't work, go to Device Manager (open Control Panel, click on System, click on Hardware tab, click on Device Manager). In Device Manager, scroll down to Network adapters - if there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation point next to your 802.11n Wireless LAN Card, then you have some sort of device conflict or driver issue - is there an error message? If there is no yellow triangle and no error message, then you can exit Device Manager. If you are getting an error message or yellow triangle, try and fix this issue by reinstalling the correct driver from Asus or fixing the conflict - right click on 802.11n Wireless LAN Card and choose "update driver" if you need to do that (you will have to download the correct driver using another machine and copy it onto your netbook first) - otherwise choose "Properties" to troubleshoot. If there is a yellow triangle and/or an error message and you cannot get it fixed, it might be a good idea to make a note of error messages and details of what you tried so you can post them here to assist people in helping you.

If there was nothing wrong in the device manager, or if none of the above worked, it is possible that you have a malware infestation that damaged your winsock. In that case you can download Winsock XP Fix from Snapfiles or Cnet (from another computer), copy it onto your netbook and run it. If that fixes your problem, you may have malware issues and should do a virsucan (if you do not have an antivirus installed, get Avira free which is awesome) - I would also strongly suggest you download the free versions of Malwarebytes, Superantispyware and Emsi's A2free usb and run them to clean your system.

If none of the above works, then as a last resort you could back up all your data onto disk or an external drive and then use the Asus restore function to set your netbook back to factory default. You would have to reinstall all your software and reconfigure your netbook and copy all your data back - but at least hopefully your wifi would be working! If restoring to factory default did not fix your problem, then you almost certainly have a hardware failure.

Hope something above helped ya. Good luck.

Wireless router is not working

Go to Here for Linksys EasyLink Advisor (LELA). With this software you can monitor the routers status and troubleshoot.

Most trouble shooting involves disconnecting the power to the cable modem and the wrt54 router for about 10-20 seconds. Then plug in the modem until it lights, then plug in the router. The Advisor will then get a new address.

It also shows a graphic picture of your whole system.

I have a wrt54 and use this whenever I have a problem. I fix it then turn it off.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck

HP Pavilion dv9700 laptop, Wireless stops working at random.

HP's normally use the Atheros wifi card which recently has had many problems such as what you describe here. Try a different wifi card to see if this solves the problem. If you don't have a wifi card take it to a local repair shop to see if they have one they can try for you.

Did you see the wireless signal or your network status in the computer with the wireless adaptor?
If yes, select your wireless network and connect your device.

If no, check the status of your wireless card first
My PC >> Properties >> Hardware >> Device Manager >> Network

If the wireless is marked ( ! ) Install the right driver for your wireless card

If ok, try to set up your wireless connection with windows wireless utility instead of HP utility.
(if necesary uninstall HP utility)

If the firewall can't be fixed this issue is related to your antivirus that it is blocking the setting.

Let me know how it is going...
