Toshiba Satellite 1405 - Power problem

I was using my laptop when I received a pop-up box saying something like "Change your battery immediately or switch to AC". Well, I do not use my battery. It is always on AC. After about 5 minutes, the laptop screen when completely black.

- The green light on the front was a solid green for 1 day. Now it is blinking green

- The yellow light is blinking indicating that I need to change my battery.

- Periodically, when I press the "on" button, the red Toshiba word will show, and I will get 2 lines of normal script, that show every time the laptop is turned on. Then everything goes black.

Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this problem

Re: Toshiba Satellite 1405 - Power problem

Hi Don

Although symptom is showing that AC Adaptor is not working as its not providing power to the unit. I will suggest you to perform some basic troubleshooting steps. Check if outlet is working if not check with known working outlet. If you have a multimeter you can the output of the AC adaptor.

Also you can perform full power cycle and component discharge. Take the battery out and disconnect the AC adaptor press the power button and hold about 7 seconds. After that put the AC adaptor in and test again.

If issue persist take to nearest Service center check with known working AC adaptor. After that I believe you will figure out the best solution.

Good Luck

Appreciate the "Ask Me".

On your post, pls try:
  • click on Start, Control Panel, Network Connections;
  • right click on Local Area Connection;
  • click on Properties;
  • click on Configure Button;
  • click on Advanced tab;
  • highlight Connection Type, in the Value box, select Auto-Negotiation;
  • you may be asked to reboot.
You could also try the 100 Base Tx Full Duplex or the 100 Base Tx Half Duplex.

It would seem that the orange led indicates a 100mbps connection while the green is for 10mbps.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
