Question about Toshiba 57H82 57" Rear Projection Television

Toshiba 57H82 resistor value???

I replaced the STKs due to a convergence issue but got too close to one of the surface mount resistors and burnt it off. It was R7891 and I was wondering if anyone knew the resistance value and also can I replace it with a regular 1/4 watt resistor.

Please advice with any suggestions because my wife is ready to kill me.

Thanks in advance,

Khek

    Terryfic,

Have you had a chance to find the value of the resistor?

I also have a 57h82. On Saturday I noticed the red was out of adjustment. Single pt. convergence worked great, but the red would not move left to right on the 9pt convergence. Up and down worked fine. The blue also worked fine on up/dn and left/right. Any suggestions?

    txbob,

I too had a problem similar to that and I replaced the STk392-110 ICs. This was not the easiest thing to do because you actually have to desolder the heat sinks in order to remove the STKs.

Make sure you have a very good solder pen with a very small tip that is clean along with a solder sucker and wick. The reason why I say this is because I burnt up one of the surface mount resistors with a messy tip but Terryfic hooked me up with the right resistor value.

$0.99 later from Radio Shack my TV is now working and my wife's faith in me has been restored because she wanted me to pay 4 bills to fix the darn thing. Thank you Terryfic!!!!

    $20 for STKs
$0.99 for 6 pack of resistors
my wife and kids being able to watch their shows...u know the ending!!!

I ended up replacing both the STK-392-110's. I had no issues with resistors near the ICs. I checked all fuses that were accessible. The set now works perfect!! Thanx Terryfic for the info. I will put the part numbers in my service manual.... Bob

When I get to work in a few hours, I will get the value for you.
Yes,you can use a regular 1/4 watt resistor and you might be
able to measure the value of it's twin in the other IC circuit....T.

Check for solder bridge along the convergence ic's. Check low value resistors in the circuit. Make sure you have your +27 and -27 vcc going to the ic's.

After replacing the stks you need to perform convergence adjusment procedure.
If Stk keeps burning out then replace convergence board.

This tv have a problems call CONVERGENCE,it dead. The tv convergence board have the 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors are dead. These parts on the convergence board must be replaced to solved the convergence problems. The shop will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.

Check all the resistors that are connected to the stks especially the 3 that have same values, resolder if required. Also use a magnifing glass to check on embedded resistors on the soldering side of pcb. you may have unknowing desoldered one of them or caused shorting. These will be small ant size blackish rectangular resistors. most DIY people mess them up. Some tvs may have them too close to the stk terminals and require careful desoldering and soldering while replacing the stks. vote if it helps and thanks if you voted. check out www.fixurtvs.com

50H82 red wavy convergence (stks didn't fix)

If the tin can module you are referring to is the hyper module, it is common to replace all 11 caps because the factory caps ****. Check for bridged solder connections at STK's search the forum at electromaniacs for 50h81 :)

Blue light (RGB) will not converge (Toshiba 50H72)

Look around the area of the STKs and you should see some low valued resistors. One lead of which will be attached to the STKs. One or more of these is open. Replace it/them and you should be fine. These are current limiting resistors (effectively fuses) for the power to the STKs. One of them is not getting power.

Could be bad amps - or a yoke return resistor is out of value. Need to get out the meter and test the resistors out in front of the amps for true value..

57H82 convergence issue, but not STK IC

There are probably eight to ten resistors sitting behind the heat sincs the Chips mount on. You will need an Ohm Meter the easiest way to check them is just compare them with one another, you will see a pattern then you will see one that is really high or open (infinity) that is the one to change check the coor code on it to be sure you replace it with the right size
