Question about Toshiba Satellite A105 Notebook

1 Answer

Toshiba a105 I've been having trouble with this laptop since I got it.I had to replace the AC adapter 3 times. Each time the adapter burned up. I finally bought an aftermarket adapter that has seemed to have lasted. My current problem is that the Laptop's screen started flickering. I figured it might have been some kind of overheating problems so I used a can of Air to blow out the CPU vent. I also took out the Memory module to check the contacts. When I put module back I failed to install it fully. When I went to power up the power light came on and immediatly went out. I thought maybe the battery was dead so I plugged in the ac adapter. The ac power and battery light wouldn't come on at all. I finally realized the memory module wasn't in fully. Now the ac power and battery lights come on but the Laptop won't power up at all. Please Help thanks

Hello. I have Toshiba Satellite U205-S5034

Yes, this is replaceable. However, it is not easy to do and requires taking the motherboard out of the laptop and decent soldering skills. If your laptop is under warranty, consult the manufacturer and they may replace it for free. If not, computer repair places can do it for around $100 or so I believe. It is expensive due to the skills and time required.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A135 and not sure if blacklight or something else

Your backlight lamp, (Bulb), or the Inverter is bad.

1.General instructions, and photos, for replacement of a typical laptop backlight,

2.Instructions for completely disassembling a Toshiba Satellite A135 laptop. The reason I included this is twofold.

A.It shows, and tells exactly, how to remove the LCD screen from your laptop.

B.It shows you that the following information in link 3, on how to replace an Inverter in a Satellite A105, will work for your Satellite A135.
(At the bottom of this page you will see Page1:: Page2:: Page 3:: Page 4
You are on Page 1. Just click on the white Page2, and so on, to continue)

3.How to replace an Inverter in a Satellite A105,

FIRST! Always remove all power! AC adapter, (Charger), and battery.

Second! Observe anti-static guidelines!

Third! This ain't tough! It just looks hard. Once you see how simple this is, I'm sure you'll agree with me.

Burns out A/C adapters

The laptop really shouldnt be able to affect the ac adapter.
More than likely it is something on the AC side.
Are you plugging it into a UPS? Some of the cheaper ones dont put out a true sine wave and that can have a bad result on power bricks.

Toshiba Satellite A105-S4048 problem with AC Adapter When I turn the laptop on with the AC adapter, after checking the BIOS freezes and does not boot Windows. If I turn the laptop in only with battery boot...

There's not much you can do. The problem is definately with your motherboard. I'd recommend a bios update, but normally you can ONLY run a bios update if the battery and the ac are both plugged in.

This problem is pretty common among Toshiba's A105 and P105 models.

Besides replacing the motherboard there's not much you can do.

I think you need to do a power cycle. remove the battery and use tha AC adapter alone. If it boots, then thats good. U can try also booting on safe mode by pressing F8. Then re start the notebook in normal mode. If it wont works then i think u need to reinstall windows as a last resort. U need to use TOSHIBA RECOVERY DISK this time.

Problem with laptop- no power

The battery needs to be taken out once in a while. It is possible to use the ac adapter and power cord without the battery to power your laptop. Please press on the power button for 10 seconds for your computer to turn on. Check if you can see any message on the screen.

try looking at the DC input. My brother's 1st laptop had that same problem. All we need to do is solder it. Remember-1st dc connection, not the one on the MB.

Toshiba Satellite A105

The most common problem on these units is the ac connector solder joints break away from the motherboard. If you're sure the ac adapter is working, and the correct one, and it's not charging the battery (assuming the battery is good), it's most likely the problem. They don't have to appear loose to be loose.
Otherwise, it's motherboard time, or a loose screw, etc has caused a dead short on the board.
Good luck, if you have additional info, let me know.
