There is a microswitch in the rear of the catch bin that can wear and spop activation. the shreder lid can be removed and switch positioned lower. alternatively, the notch the switch engages on the bin can be built up with epoxy.

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

My Gestetner- DSm415pf has an error code 121. How do I clear it so I can use the machine?

The only way to reset the jam code is to find the tiny scrap of paper that is still caught in one of the sensors. The 121 jam code is "Exit Sensor Off", essentially it means that the paper did not reach the exit sensor. This would not cause the machine to still think there was a jam, as the paper obviously never made it there.

Check and make sure you have fully closed all the doors, including the front. If that is good, then open and close all the doors one by one. If that doesn't work, then there is a scrap of paper still stuck in the machine somewhere.

If you can't see one anywhere, then it probably is a scrap stuck at the registration sensor, which is just below the registration roller. I've seen this many times, and unless you really get in there and look closely (Flashlight helps), you will never see. It's a major pain to fish it out, so good luck.

I have a 1970s huffy 3 speed. I've restored basically the whole, except I cannot remember how to take the crank shaft apart so I can see the condition of the spindle. Everything works smoothly;...

First you must remove the pedal on the opposite side of the sprocket it is usually reverse threaded so to remove you will turn it clockwise with an open end wrench. Then remove the jam nut (this nut locks the bearing retainer in place which is also usually reverse threaded). Once the jam nut is removed, using a large bladed screwdriver place it in one of the slots, tilt the screwdriver back and tap with a hammer (usually comes off pretty easy once the jam nut is removed). Slide the chain off the sprocket remove both the inner and outer bearing set. If the crank is hard to turn when riding the bearings are probably in dire need of grease. You can purchase a small tub of bearing grease from your auto parts store. Cover both bearing rings completly before reassembly. (Don't use oil)
Hope this helps.

The copier says rec paper jam slide left platen? what do i do ?

On the slide there is a handle. This releases the top reader port of the copier, move it to the left. Raise right side cover and remove the drum cartridge unit. You should see the jammed paper there, at the right lower access door, or in the fuser where the paper should come out. Just reverse the procedure to reset the jam. If the copier still indicates the jam then it must be in the fuser. You will have to have a technician remove the fuser assembly from the copier and take apart the unit to remove the jam. Hope this helps.

Paper jam message brother MFC-440CN

Generally theres still a small piece stuck somewhere. Remove the back where the paper feeds through and check there. Then open the top so you can see the ink head and check around there. That should do it. The printer sometimes wont remove the jam until you open that top lid.
Also try switching it on and off again just to be sure.
If it's still there, the only other way is ripping it apart to find that pesky bit of paper still stuck.

Jamming

When these printer had a jam whatever is stuck in it is usually found deep down in the paper feeder where u can't visibly see it, to be certain nothing is stuck in there you'll need to take it apart, its not difficult as it contain just a few major components but be careful how you take it apart. You'll to take off the two side covers the scanner unit and the top cover then just a take flat screw and slightly raise the white plastic paper guide and see if its anything there.

Huge paper jam ( piece of a checkbook)

Throw it out and buy a new one! staples won't replace this unit and your gonna have to take it apart and clean the gears.
Also tell your employees to stop reversing the drive gears with paper inside the bucket it only reverses the flow and jams the unit.
I would buy a cross cut shredder next time.
Hope that helps.
