Phone will not ring

actually i had the same problem. i cudnt c the dot coz my cover was hiding it. hehe that slient swith was on thats was my problem :$

Used to have the same issue of the NOT RINGING WHEN IN SLEEP but I downloaded an application called Insomnia from the utilities category in the installer application.
Iphone Its working now.
Might not be the correct fix but the phone is ringing when on sleep mode.

If you have an unlocked iPhone with customized ringtones (i.e. from Cydia), maybe you've set one of these as main ringtone. If you accidentally deleted it, your phone will not ring anymore. I hope it helps

Yes, the orange dot is showing. Moved the switch so the dot would not show, and ringing began to work normally again. Thanks.

I had the same problem i tried everything. Then i figured out that i was after upgrading to 3.0 and had to jailbreak again. So i did not have the ringtones that i had downloaded before the upgrade that i had assigned to people. As soon as i downloaded the ringtones again problem solved. Hope this helps.

The obvious problem is the ringer switch, but something I just figured out on my phone was if you set an individual ringtone for each contact and no longer have that specific ringtone on your phone anymore the phone will only vibrate. Try looking through the contacts list and the ringtone applied to that number then make sure you have that ringtone on your phone. If not, more than likely you just have to choose another ringtone. Yay me!!!!!

Check the top button (called the silent switch) on the top left of your iphone . Push it towards you so the red dot is not showing. Now try calling the phone.

Simple EASY Fix... soft reset: Hold menu bottom and power button at same time past power off, until you see apple. fixed mine!!

There is a button at the top of the volume slider which needs to be switched or flipped up.
Again it is located on the left side of the phone just forward of the volume control.

My slider was pushed back too. 'orange dot' was showing. harharhar. I didn't realize I was missing calls until last night i had all these missed calls. I thought I fixed it last night bc i 'changed my settings' but then i was sitting here and saw a flash..sure enough i missed a call. Luckily I noticed that orange dot. (forgot that lil option was there)

I had the same problem.. Check the following first:

1) If ur default ringtone is a custom ringtone that no longer exist
2) For the number that is calling your iphone, check if there is an custom ringtone assigned for that number which no longer exist.

If all your switches are on....and your the ipod won't give sound either, go into settings, then general and hit the reset button on the bottom.

My iphone was not ringing. I click the icon Ringtones, click start converting, click direct ringtones, click Enable Ringtone - MUST BE IN OFF position and Enable Star effects - MUST BE IN OFF position. Try and enjoy your I-phone.

I had the same not ringing in sleep mode problem. What i did was used my back up phone and i turned off the iphone for a week. After the week went by I said i would give the iphone another try and it works normally. So give it a try, what do you have to lose!!....keep me posted, maybe I own a freak iphone.
