I just got a new Dell with Vista.

Now my Printer will not work I loaded the program disk and it run through like it was loading correctly. I have a lexmark x1100 series. Does anyone know if there is any updates that I can load down so I do not have to buy a new printer. The printer was working fine, just not working with vista.

Re: I just got a new Dell with Vista.

Most probably the driver that you are loading for your lexmark is incompatible with vista and you need to load the vista compatible drivers. you can download them from the link below

Printer (922) won't install on new laptop

If your laptop is running Vista and your old desktop was running XP and the disk you got with your printer had drivers that worked with XP and Vista is not listed on them, it would be a case of incompatibility. You would need to go to the Dell website to download updated drivers for Vista if they are not of the standard Vista driver package. (The driver model changed between XP and Vista making XP drivers incompatible with Vista.)

Lexmark 5470 printer not working on Windows Vista

If you just connected the printer to your Vista PC, the drivers probably didn't load.
If you haven't yet, you need to install the Lexmark drivers first before you can use your printer. Unplug the printer before installing, then plug it in when prompted by the software.

My printer is hp1401

Does Vista see the printer when you plug it in to your Dell? You can go to HP web site and down load the drivers for Vista if Vista does not have the drivers already. The key is to bring up Vista and then plug the USB cable into Dell and Vista should tell you it found a new device. If Vista does not have the drivers, unplug the printer and down load the drivers for Vista from HP, follow the instructions from HP and it should work.

We have a Lexmark X2400 series printer, copier, scanner. We have purchased a new Dell computer with Windows Vista. We have tried using the Lexmark Disk to load the program onto our computer but will not...

Go to, and follow the instructions on the LEXMARK downloads page on how to load a VISTA COMPATIBLE driver for your machine. If you still have problems, contact Lexmark TECHNICAL SUPPORT on the same page.

Old hp printer won't print anything with new hp desktop computer

Your PC has VISTA loaded (according to the HP web specs)

This printer has no specific driver for VISTA but basic functionality is supported by VISTA without the need to load a seperate driver.

refer HERE

The printer connects via a USB cable to the PC and should be detected automatically by VISTA whe the printer is turned on.

The original CD would have drivers for an earlier vesrion of windows (98 or XP) so you should uninstall any programs that were installed offthe disk.

Dell 5100cn Laser printer with 016-370 restart printer

What do you mean by "not take the download?" Are you trying to load the drivers from the Dell site and have the printer work? I ask because I could not get mine to work with just the drivers offered on the web site. I have to use the original install disk when loading to a machine using Windows XP SP2. Vista on the other hand started running with the downloaded drivers just fine. Have you used the install disk that came with the printer? I am on a home office network but had the same result when I ran a USB cable from my pc directly to the back of the 5100cn. The disk is the only way I can load it and I have had to do it several times over the years when changing the settings on the network. Hope this helps.

Dell 922 Printer

You will have to use the New Dell 922 VISTA drivers and not the XP drivers in order for it to work with your Vista Loaded PC. The new drivers for the 922 under Vista are available for download at Dells website. Check out this link Hope this helps.
