Same problem. Fresh batteries, fresh batteries and plugged in and just plugged in.

How do I factory reset, which the Sony site says is described in the operating instructions, but I can not find it there or in the service manual. Sony support after 1 hour and three people says it cannot...

The manual link is here: Sony CFDG700CP Instruction Manual

The troubleshooting section makes no mention of a "reset" but does say that if nothing solves the problem, to unplug the radio and remove the batteries. Wait for all displays to disappear and return batteries and plug in (this effectively resets the processor) and try again.

Good luck!

Jeep boombox the volume wont go up and stays low I can here it.

First obvious question...did you check the batteries? If not put in fresh ones. Next, plug in the house connector to bypass the batteries. Does it work that way? If not, opening the case is a must. Go to the back of the volume knob and with a small alligator jumper put it between the pins to bypass the volume sweep. If it works that way, the switch needs to be replaced. Beyond that you can search for shorted wires going to the speakers.

I cant turn it on at all i plug it in and i dont even get a flash on the LCD display my sis dropped it and i have no idea what to do but if you tell me I can go inside and fix it if its an easy repair as i...

One of the most common failures is the actual AC inlet. Have you tried using batteries? If the batteries work, I would guess that either the AC inlet has broken or that one of the connections to the transformer has broken. Either repair is not particulalry expensive. Getting at these parts can be a bit tricky though. Try running on batteries and update this with the results.

Radio plays with batteries but when power cord is used the display says check battery.

Connect the power cord to the radio without the batteries inside, i mean remove the batteries from the radio, and see what it will display.

Does message disappear when plugged into ac outlet? If it does your batteries are not making a good connection or they are weak. Sometimes old batteries leak and cause contact springs to get corroded, in turn causing bad connection. Clean contact areas with a knife or light sandpaper. That should get you going.

Hi...every time I turn off my RV-B90 I have to unplug it and plug it back in before I can turn it back on. Any fix for this?

This was happening on mine and here is how i fixed it.

I would hear clicking from the cassette area when i first turned it on, and the door would be jammed and i had to brute force it open. The kaboom would not shut down by using the power button or remote. Nothing!

I found the tape mechanism was getting jammed out of place because of all the gunk so I cleaned the inside with isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip then moved the mechanisms back and forth with my finger on the bottom where the tape goes over the sensor.

I powered it up with no clicking and was able to shut it off with the power button and remote again. My power issues had to do with the tape player whodathunkit.

When radio is plugged in only the gfi outlets work not the radio.

Mines similar, outlets work but radio will only work on battery. Radio will not work on mains only. Charger works at same time so ok. SORTED IT TONIGHT. Inside the charger inside the box there is a fuse (240v 2A) I think, tiny radio fuse. Changed that tonight and radio now works on mains only or battery. Very awkwark job but better than watching a load of cr** on tv. Hope this helps someone.
