Photoshop Elements I can't get the cropping feature of Photoshop Elements 4.0 to work correctly. It is very slow and takes up 5 GB (yes, GB) of hard drive space during the process...then I get a scratch drive error when I go to save...duh! Help! I have reinstalled to no avail.

PS CS6 How to drag a layer into another PSD file at-size?

>Open "My Computer" from your desktop. Double-click your hard drive.
>Open "Documents and Settings."
>Open the folder labeled with your user name.
>Open "Local Settings" followed by "Temp."
>Scroll down to the files beginning with "Photoshop" ("PS" for older Photoshop CS builds). This will be followed by a series of letters and numbers.
>Double-click each "Photoshop" ("PS") temp file to open them in Photoshop CS. This is the only way to identify which temp file contains the project you wish to recover. Luckily, because when Photoshop shuts properly it deletes its temp files, there should be no more than three or four.
>Select "Save As" from the "File" menu when you find the temp file you want. This will make the file permanent.
also use Photoshop Restore Toolbox

I have Photoshop CS3 on two PCs, abandoning one and wish to install PS CS3 on a Mac, replacing 2d pc. Can I do this and keep PS3 also on the PC? Same question for Lightroom and the Bridge. Can I share...

No you cannot, because it is not supported when you uninstall it. If you visit Adobe.com. What you might want to do is just download another version on it. Copy it onto a flash drive or CD. And then just place into the other PC.

Also you can share digital files between the PC and your Mac, but not programs, because programs are Server-Side installed. So the only way to share a program is to copy the files(Install Files) from one PC to the Mac, and it should work.

Is it ok to defragment my 2T goflex portable hard drive?

Yes. Defragmenting simply takes the pieces of empty space on the drive and groups them together. When you delete data from a drive or it is deleted as part of a program's function (such as deleting files only needed during installation) it leaves a blank space, but files are lined up on the drive. So if the files are like so:

2GB File ' 3 GB File ' 5.5 GB Free Space ' 1.5 GB File ' 4 GB Free Space

Then defragmenting would try to rearrange the files like so:

2 GB File ' 3 GB File ' 1.5 GB File ' 9.5 GB Free Space

So, in short, yes, it's okay to defragment your drive.

I want to back up my hard drive onto my Elements external drive. The computer says that the Elements 3607 does not have enough space. What do I do?

Well first of all check how many free space you have on your ext. drive. If you DO have enough to back-up your files, then i would suggest you right clicking on your ext. drive, choose properties and format it,but beware, formating will delete ALL your data on external drive.
If you think i was usefull, click on Thumbs up button, cheers!

The transfer speed is too slow for my WD elements portable 500 gb. overnight it cannot copy 20 gb of data. what is the problem?

Possible problems include having antivirus or antispyware programs sunning that have to check all data transfers in progress. This is a massive resource load on your machine. Turn off them and adware while doing the transfers.
Another problem might be real bad fragmentation of one or both of the data devices.
When defragging, you need to do that in SAFE mode to avoid it taking days... every change it makes during defrag it goes back and runs scandisk unless you do it in safe mode.
Annother problem would be severe data errors causing error corrections continuously.

Using a mac... have iphoto libraries with photos on external...can open the library but cannot do anything with the photos...just view them as small thumbnails.

You can send them-as attachments to emails. Put them into folders - but only as thumbnails. If you want to work on them, make them brighter, crop them, add text etc - you must have photo editing software - something like ~Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Photoshop Essentials. Your mac - brilliant as it might be - can';t do it on its own -it needs extra software to do extra jobs.

Picture Size to Large?

This may not be the solution; however, please obtain a larger capacity memory card.
A 2GB card will give you several hundred photos. Cost is less than $10.
You really should not lower the resolution. you will lose detail that you may want in the future (really). (4GB card will hold over 999 pictures - $15)
If you must lower the resolution, press "Menu" and use the arrows to move the highlight bar to "resolution" ... change it to a lower number like 6MP. keep the "FINE" setting in place (if your model has that setting) or maybe "BEST".
Do not use "RAW" - (very large pix).
Hope this helps!

WD Elements 500 GB

Hi bobo08,

I'd first check to see if the drive is working correctly with some utilities that WD provides, then once you determine if the drive works, you can either return it the retailer or it's working correctly by using these utilities. Here's the link to that drive. HERE

Good Luck
