Go to this web site and check out the owners manual. On pages 13 or 14, it discusses the time clock. If the time clock is not moving to begin a defrost cycle, I would say, replace it. It does have a mechanical motor and it can fail or lock up.
Hope this helps.

Why does my t-24-gc glass chiller keep freezing up to the point the ice hits the fan?

Check the defrost timer. Turn the small slotted knob on the side with a screw driver until the unit turns off. this will force it into a defrost check the defrost heater strip if it is getting hot then replace the defrost timer if not then check with a volt meter to make sure your getting power to heat strip. If you are getting power to heat strip but it is not heating up then replace the heat strip. also before you force it into a defrost check the defrost termination switch with a meter make sure you have power going to it and through it. It will be mounted on the evaporator coil a round therm o disk with 2 wires on it should be a red and pink one. If you have power going to it and not through it then replace it. This cuts power to defrost time if it gets to hot at coil during defrost.

Afb910 freezer not freezing

If the refrigerator is not defrosting, the defrost control board might be defective. The defrost control board monitors several conditions and determines how often to run the defrost cycle. If the board fails, the refrigerator will not go into the defrost cycle. Eventually, ice will build up on the evaporator coil and then the refrigerator and or freezer will not stay cold enough. This will depend on where the evaporator is located. It's prudent to check the defrost heater and defrost thermostat for continuity before replacing the defrost control board. If that is not the problem then the coil might have a hole in it and needs repair and coolent rechrge.

Defrost cycles

Defrost cycle usually comes on after about 7 hours. If it is happening every 30 minutes or so, the defrost timer is not working properly and your internal temperature will never have a chance to go down to zero as SOP.

When defrost cycle comes on, the compressor is automatically shut off and internal freezer temps can go up by close to 25 degrees or more. It is for this reason that commercial freezers do not have auto defrost - the latter extols a price, convenience at the price of higher average temps and less time to properly store foodstuffs in freezer.

Completely dead

let's start with the basics. Are you sure you are getting the correct power to the unit? If 120 volts, use meter and check across power and neutral, not power and ground. If correct power is present, check the defrost timeclock for proper operation. If bad and stuck in the defrost cycle, nothing will work except for the defrost heaters. It should terminate defrost cycle and return to the freeze cycle, but if terminator is bad, it will just sit in defrost. Start here and get back to me and we can continue.

Freezer does not go into defrost cycle

first, check defrost timer function, then check heater functions. Is power making it to the heaters? Does the heater have continuity? How long, if at all, does it stay in defrost? Some unit have a defrost terminator, and, when it fails, it will go in and out of defrost instantly.,. Start there my friend.

Frost on wall

Hi, The defrost heater may not be working properly (timer stuck, heating element burned out, bad defrost thermostat,etc.). The unit should go into defrost mode about every 6-8 hours typically and last about 30 minutes (depending on model of freezer). During defrost cycles the compressor and fan do not run (don't want to keep cooling while trying to defrost). Once defrost is over, the fan and compressor get power again.

HOW TO BYPASS

If the refrigerator is not icing up it could be the defrost thermostat making the defrost cycle initiate every time the defrost timer makes defrost available. I do not recommend by-passing the defrost cycle, have the switch checked and replaced if needed.
