After changing my headunit the instrument cluster dash light and gauges have stopped working! The car said no connection go to dealer fuel pressure low and engine management something. Car starts n drives but all electrics including central locking. It's a Alfa 156
check the spark plugs and leads if OK. check for any water in the spark chamber. if any of these there might be an ECU fault. My opinion.. download the alfadiag software ,and buy yourself a usb to OBD-II plug (which is located near the steering wheel) to connect to your vehicle. It will save you a lot of money.
an air leak would weaken the mix of fuel to air so giving you better fuel efficiency but a poor power output.
was my last answer not to your liking, re **** fuel consumption on all fiat/alpha cars.but it is true, ask any owner........14.7 average mpg.......£205 road tax.....(tax it for a year and quadruple its value...)
I just bought a '99 156 & had the same problem. As long as you have the 4 digit code then all you have to do is drive around for an hour (time the 60 mins!!) & providing you have switched the stereo "on" at the beginning the " - - - - " will appear on the front at 60mins. Then just type in the digits! The Alfa has this "anti theft" device on the stereo which also means every time the battery is disconnected you have to drive around for an hour before you do it again!
