Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook

Charging Problem My Dell Latitude D610 battery will not charge anymore. I installed updated drivers from Dell's website after installing a new hard drive. The new ac charger worked fine until then. Now it will power the computer just fine, but won't charge the battery. I'm getting a message about the charger not being an original Dell item. It's not, but it worked fine until the new bios was installed. Can you help???

Re: Charging Problem

And check the power pin where the cable connects. . . .This is a BIG problem on all laptop computers. The daily tugging and jerking on the cable makes the pin loose and eventually it doesn't work at all.

Here's a neat idea to stop causing the problem. . .

Dell latitude D610 vga drivers sites

All drivers for Windows XP for this laptop can be found here:
Product Support Dell US

If under the category heading you specify "video" then the list will give you 2 drivers - both in the form of executable files - which can be downloaded and installed onto the computer. One of the files is for the Intel graphics chipset, and the other for the ATI graphics chipset. You need to make sure of the chipset you have otherwise the drivers will not work properly, if at all.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya

My dell latitude d610 ac power is work is properly but battrey is not charging plz tell me soulition.

If the D610 works when attached to the AC Power Cord, it is likely that your battery is not capable of taking a charge and needs to be replaced. I have 2 D610 Dell Latitudes and they are very good laptops.
Please vote if my information is helpful or not. Recommend me. Thanks UAW 974

My dell latitude d610 is not charging, when connected with ac adaptor the laptop works fine even without batter but putting up the battery shows-charging is nil ! -updated my bios with a06 version from...

Hi, you might just have a faulty battery and need to replace it. One thing you can try is to stick the battery in your freezer for a day or so, and then put it back in your computer and see if it will charge. If not, try a new battery and you should be okay.

My Dell latitude d610 charging circuit not working on board

What needs to be done is the jack that your adaptor plugs into has solder points underneath it. All the solder points need to be resoldered to make sure that there are no cracks in the solder that are preventing the jack from charging your battery.

After this is done if the laptop still isn't charging then if you know for sure your using the correct ac adaptor with your laptop then at that point the moterboard would have to be replaced.

Battery light blinking red even when charging

Looks like you need a new battery. Same thing happened with a DELL XPS, once the new battery was in place, all was fine.

My Dell Latitude D610 Battery Stopped Working

The battery light flashing RED/AMber is an indication of a failed battery.

Portable batteries have a life expectancy of 300 to 500 recharge/discharge cycles. (roughly 18 months under normal use) After that, the charge life starts to drop off and eventually it will not hold a charge. Because of this, the battery is considered a consumable item and is only warranted for one year from the manufacturer.

Since all the systems listed in the post are D610's (4 to 5 years old) it is not surprising that the batteries are failing.

Dropped Puck, if you replace the battery and a new battery doesn't charge/run the system, then the charging circuit on the MB is failed.
