Had the main board replaced by Sharp in Chicago.

My TV just started doing the same thing. It turns on with picture and sound but turns itself off after a few seconds.

  • Anonymous Jun 22, 2008

after turning on the tv, it only stays on for ten seconds and than turns off.

This seems to be a common problem. Mine is barely 2 years old. My daughter is now worried that she might experience the same thing with her 32 sharp tv. Just bought a Samsung to replace it and will never buy Sharp product anymore.

The mainboard would need to be replaced. I have worked on many of these and 98% all have this problem due to poor airflow

Sounds like you have a lamp error. Most likey there is something wrong with one of the lamps in the LCD itself, or you have a defective inverter.

It has nothing to do with poor air flow, it is failed componets.

I need the codes to program my Innovage Jumbo Universal Remote for Dynex television

As there are no specific codes for the Dynex TV you have the choice of either using the Auto or Learn method. The following are instructions for both:

AUTO Method

1. Press & Hold (about 3 sec.) the [DEVICE] button on the JUMBO Remote....llight will stay solid.
2. Now just press the [POWER] button (only) ONCE while pointing at the device...it will start sending codes approximately every second. (Don't keep pressing the power button as instructions indicate.)
3. TIMING IS EVERYTHING HERE. (It may take 5 minutes to find your devices code.)
4. AS SOON AS the power goes off...press the [ENTER] button on the JUNBO Remote.
5. Now pressing the [POWER] button should power up/down the device.

---- any buttons not programmed will have to be handled using the LEARN method ---

LEARN Method

1. Press & Hold (about 3 sec.) the [DEVICE] button on the JUMBO Remote....it'll stay solid.
2. Press the [LEARN] button on the JUMBO Remote. (light will immediately blink rapidly.)
3. Now Press the {NEEDED} button to program. (light will stay solid)
4. Now (1 to 2 inches away) have the ORIGINAL Remote pointed at the JUMBO Remote and press the {DESIRED} button on the ORIGINAL Remote.
5. It blinks rapidly while sending...then a slower steady blink once "LEARNED" correctly.

*** Not all buttons work properly with the "LEARN method". Some you will need to "associate" with an alternate button on the JUMBO Remote. *

Pioneer Dv 285 powers down after 15sec

Hi There, I've got the same problems with my DV 285. My power started going off approximately 5 to 10 minutes into the DVD. The only button that seems to work is the OPEN/CLOSE button. Once the tray closes, the unit shuts off. I can't even use the on/standby button to turn it on.

JVC 42 inch LCD HD TV has no picture or sound

utencilio posted this fix. It worked for my JVC LT-42X579.

Okay, I found a fix! Called JVC, spoke to somebody there, here it is:
1)unplug the TV completely, no wall no power strips, completely
2)wait 10 sec
3)plug TV back in and Turn it on, the light will still be doing the same thing
4)wait 30 sec
5)ON THE TV, not the remote, locate the menu, volume (-) and power button.
6)while simultaneously holding down the menu and volume (-) button, pressed the power button ONCE and continue to hold the other 2 for 10 sec.
7)on the remote control, go to menu>settings>system info
*** now this I know as a FACT will work on systems that display: JVC - ver.5.32FO001, but I don't know of any other versions***
8)press the mute button on the remote twice
9)unplugg TV again and wait 10 sec.
10) plug TV in and turn on

It SHOULD be working normally now... Thanx to the guys a JVC support for this one, I know it seems like an obvious first place to look, but sometimes it isn't. I for one checked online forums first
