Disc ejected and then retracted.

Check on the web for the fix. Many people had an issue with the Sony MDS-JE500 series MD units as the little lever switch that indicates that a disc is loaded goes bonkers and it might be as simple as 'adding' a non-sticky item to the lever. Do a Google search for 'mini disc switch fix'. Good luck.

Toc not writing

I was going to note that when you first turn the MD recorder on is when it will write the TOC for the disc - so even if you turn it on and press eject, it is smart enough to write a TOC first, then eject the disc. Good find on the battery loss.

Cd drawer not opening on sony mxd-d4

Could be bad belts, lack of lubrication on the MD side and even a bad power supply filter capacitor of the larger type. It would need to be seen by a repair Technician to resolve all issues.

Ive just got a mini disk player and its comeing up toc error, can you help me please

Probably not. There are various reasons that TOC errors occur, some are fixable and others not, but Sharp MD units were really known to suffer from them for multiple reasons all at once. TOC means Table Of Contents; it's an index file on the disc which tells the host machine where everything on the disc is located and the TOC is modified whenever you edit a disc. Sometimes the file gets corrupted, but often the machine itself simply becomes unable to read the disc and as the TOC is the first thing it tries to read then you get a TOC error.

If you're lucky the TOC error is limited to a single minidisc; if this is the case then it's just one faulty disc and although there are ways to perform TOC cloning they usually involve hacking the host machine in various ways which may cause permanent damage. Unless the disc is important, just chuck it away and use a new one. If the fault is with the player then again, just chuck it into the nearest electronic waste recycling bin. Spares are not available, and as it's a Sharp, diagnosis will be difficult and the fault likely to return.

Many MD players are practically worthless these days so they're often available on FreeCycle and Freegle groups: Sony are the preferred choice by far, and are also the most commonly offered brand, but take whatever is on offer without complaint and worry about problems later; after all, they are free.

Getting a rec error message whilst trying to eject mini disc

i have just solved the problem get a small flat head screw driver and whilst ejecting put it into the hole where the mini disk goes. now when i say gentle i mean gentle GENTLY feel for the edge of the mini disk you will find it. When you know you have found it very gently and slowly push the mini disk up and down and the disk will pop out you wont damage anything as long as you are slow and gentle. If it doesnt happen first time dont worry it will with patience but dont be heavy with it. The problem is the disk and not the player. you have a corrupt disk which is quiet common. Just throw the disk away. Turn the machine off for 10 seconds and turn back on put another disk in that your not bothered about and you will see that it shoudl play etc try recording onto that disk and you shoudl see that the player is working fine
hope this helps

Mini disc recorder question

Just use the first two tracks, one for left and one for right and use the PAN pots to adjust the stereo positioning. Just run the 'tape out' or 'line out' or 'aux out' of the mixer to the REC "IN" on the MiniDisc recorder; hit "record" then the "play" button to start it. Make sure your input selector switch is on ANALOG and not DIGITAL or OPTICAL. Let me know how it works out for you. Okay? Thanks

Mini Disc Not Working

Pull the power cord. Make sure the three-position switch with "REC/Standby/PLAY" is in the middle position, then plug the cord back in. Wait a minute, then press POWER. Now load a disk and wait 1 minute for it to read the Table of Contents (TOC). Either it will show the tracks, or it will say 'empty disk'. Let us know what happens from there, okay?
