Re: old hobart s-30 mixer oil

Hobart 30qt mixers have no sight glass also they use grease not oil!
The problem is the grease breaks down after heavy use thats why Hobart wants you to service yearly.

Re: old hobart s-30 mixer oil

Man you got an oldie but goodie mixer!im a hobart service tech for 8 years and have only seen about two dozen, unfortuantly parts for these units are for the sight glass they do become cloudy over time and you cant determine the oil level.use a heavy gear case oil.the only way of telling is to drain the oil or if the unit is loud you should probably cange the oil.

What oil should I use for the Hobart Mixer P660?

A good standard 90 wt oil is what is ok for the gearcase. This is an old email from a hobart service tech and they recomend a special oil ordered from them. So you can decide which you want to use. "EXXON SPARTAN EP-150 (6 oz)" in the M802 planetary. Hobart part #102973-13. This IS NOT a food grade oil. If you mixer is leaking you shouldhave it serviced. Service, parts , lubricants and information canbe obtained by contacting your local Hobartoffice in Pittsburgh@ (412) 788-5380. Steve Davis Field Engineer -

About how many time you must change the oil.

For most applications once every two to three years should be fine.

I have a very old kitchenaid that stopped working. It's at least 30 years old, still have the "Hobart" name on it. Any ideas where I can bring it to get fixed?

Hi, FIGSONWHEELS, Sorry, but you don’t have a KitchenAid mixer. You have a Hobart mixer, which is another brand altogether.
You might try the Hobart website and seek assistance directly through them. They tend to be very close lipped about releasing information on how to fix their mixers by yourself, as they have a whole business unit that services their industrial/commercial floor mixers. You can click on this link for the Hobart Service website:
I hope this will at least get you pointed in the right direction. Good luck, Howard – Burke, VA
