How do i connect xfinity to my plasma display

If you're referring to your xfinity tv receiver (the cable box) there's a few different ways. Please keep in mind without much information, it's difficult to give a 100% direct answer.

There are four ways to connect it. We'll start with what will give you the best video quality, going to the worst.

HDMI cable: A single cable with a flat end. Your TV and receiver will have port labeled "HDMI". You plug it in, and then use your tv remote to set it to the HDMI channel. You may have source or input button on the remote. Press that, and a list of options will appear on your tv. Select HDMI. If there is more than one HDMI (as in HDMI1, HDMI2) try each one until you get a picture.

Component cable: A cable with 5 ends. They're color coded, so match up the colors. Then try that input our source button to select the COMPONENT option on your tv.

RCA cable: A cable with three ends. Color coded. Follow the same directions as above in regards to the correct "channel" to put it on.

Coax: A single cable, an end that screws in. Its connector will look like something can be screwed on it, with a hole in the middle for the pin to go into. Connect it, then tune your tv to channel 3 or 4.

What are the best picture settings for my 55 inch lcd 1080p 120hz tv?

Generally speaking, it comes down to persnonal preference - i.e. what looks good to you, the owner.

However, some techies are of the opinion that extreme (i.e. maximum) settings in your CONTRAST and BRIGHTNESS, can over time, reduce the lifespan of your TV's panel display.

Many of the current TV's on the market, now have built-in ambient light sensors, which allow your set to automatically dim the display, when the sensors detect very low room lighting. This is also an energy saver function on some TV's, which can be manually turned on/off.

Hope this helps.........

I just installed my cable box ( motorola ) onto my tv ( got a new one ) and now my colours on channels are all green ... dvd and my wii both work fine so its not the tv colours and the sound keeps jumping...

Sounds like it is connected up wrong? are you sure the correct colored cables are used and in right Jacks etc? OR maybe the PAL, NTSC format needs changing?

Amplifier blowing

Looking up South African voltages, they vary from 220 - 250 volts at 50 cycles.
You probably also have voltage spikes from sudden load changes within the complex (air conditioners, washing machines, dryers, etc.

I suggest your complex invest in a good voltage regulator transformer. It should not need to be rated more than about 500 watts. I would guess the cost to be about $150-200 USD.

If this is more than you want to spend, try a spike suppressor, power strip first.

Problems with subtly changing colors

What connection are you using, HDMI or component?

Also, on what source is the problem happening, through sat or through off air antenna?

If you're on HDMI I'd try component. Then, playback the affected video and see if it's reproduced w/ component.

If it's on ota only, you may have a loose tuner cable inside. It's easy to fix, you need a torx t-10 screwdriver. Unplug the unit, take the 5 torx screws off of the back cover, and on the right side you'll see 2 cables running from tuners in the front to a splitter that connects to the tuner for ota on the back right. Just make sure the connections are tight with your hands only, don't over tighten them. Also, make sure you don't touch the power supply when you have the unit open!
