The cord that plugs in the outlet...3 prongs is on it the one on top came out is my lappy still safe too use with one of these prongs gone

HI there,

The top prong is the grounding prong. To continue to use the power cord without it opens the possibility for a situation where your laptop is more susceptible to a surge that could seriously damage the motherboard or components attached to it.

I highly recommend you replace the cord which you should be able to get easily at Best Buy, Fry's or another retailer that keeps common laptop replacement parts like that in stock.

Laptop won't boot up. Only activity is an occasional lighting of battery light

this ones a bit hard to answer with all the possibilities that your fault could be,, my guess is and it is common will this model lappy that you have broken the power connector on the lappy and so the battery may only charge and the lappy may power on when the connector is wiggled or place in the right position

Lenovo R61 Dead

The power supply in most computers has a fuse, either internal or external, that can blow without you noticing. Basically, you've been on battery operation this whole time, and the battery's finally gone dead.
It will be necessary to open the case and examine the power supply section. It may be possible to replace the fuse yourself, but any operation of this nature that involves opening the case will void any warranty you may have.

Raymarine e series malfunction

I have found that many of the issues you are experiencing are a result of operator error (no offense). For the system you have described, you will definitely have a network switch which interfaces everything. Is it possible that the network switch is powered from a source that you dont always turn on? In other words, if the system has multiple breakers and the network sw is tied to one of them, using only one display for example may leave the switch without power and give the error messages you described. Bottom line......BE SURE that the entire system is powered on. Another possible cause is master vs slave. One of the two displays is the master. If you power the system up in the wrong order or without the network switch in the loop, the slave unit will automatically ask you to set it as the master. NEVER do this. Changing the master will result in data loss as you described. Finally, if all of this checks out, verify the software in your displays (the version will appear in the bottom right during start up). Your software should be at least V4.29 but there is a newer version available so if you need to upgrade make sure you get the most recent. Good luck

My Acer Lappy turns off automatically!

This could be a heat issue. Make sure that nothing ( eg dust) is blocking the air vents.

Close usually only counts in horseshoe throwing ..l The power supply really must be spot on...or better current rating.. see it's the Current supplied thats important as well as the voltage usually around 17v, but can B 12v, 14v, so ya gotta choose carefully, usually it is written somewhere on the lappy's bottom or by power socket. Most, all?, lappy's will work without a battery installed, they simply will not be able to use hibernate mode and sleep mode etc due to no battery but as long as the power is on it will be OK. Ensure your power connector is actually making contact with the length and center pin contact of the lappy's sockst they can be a devil for size..
