A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by
resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer
from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and
re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns
on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again
once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on
the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).
If that doesn't help, try the steps below:
Disconnect the USB cable
connecting the printer from your computer.
On your computer, go to Control
Panel > Printers and Faxes.
Delete the Lexmark print
Re-brick your printer by
pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged
into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
When the printer turns on,
reconnect it to the computer.
Wait until your computer fully
recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers
and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print
a document to verify that the problem is fixed.
The printer is telling you that something is jamming the printer carriage, or the rod, that the print cartridges ride on. Open your printer up to where you would install your print cartridges, either front load or top load. See if you can find anything in the path of its movement. Remove it, and try printing again. Look for paper that may have jammed recently in the printer. If that doesn't fis it, try moving the printer cartridge holder manually and then try to clear the message again. Hope this helps..... The "Ink System Failure" error is causes by air in the ink feed tubes. We have a step by step guide purging the air from the feed tubes posted on our web site. Go to our site at: www.ccl-la.com, click on the printer repair link and then the HP link. Follow the steps and you should be back printing in no time at all.

The best solution is to contact Cannon on the net, ask for tech support and download any updates available for your printer (make sure they are for the operating system you are using, i.e. Windows XP Home or Professional Version, Windows Vista).
