Question about Bernina Sewing Machines

1 Answer

I always have problems with loading the bobbin, when I think it is loaded properly and begin sewing, it balls up and doesn't stitch properly on the back side of the fabric. Top stitch is fine, underneath is loose.

The bobbin case has a small screw on the side for adjusting the tension, use a tiny screw driver to finely adjust the tension and sew on a scrap until the stitch looks good always turn the screw clockwise to turn the tension up and counter clockwise to loosen it

Necci 752 manual is needed.problem with threading and stitching

Hm, I'm not able to locate a manual but may be able to offer some suggestions.

Remove the top thread from the machine.
AVOID OLD OR BARGAIN BIN THREAD!
Use the same thread in top and bobbin.
Be sure to use a brand new needle--needs to be compatible with the thread and fabric of the project..
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning.
Set the top tension to the midway point.
Verify the bobbin is loaded and threaded correctly and it turns the correct direction.
Pull the bobbin thread up through the fabric before taking the first stitch. It also helps to hold both thread tails in your left hand when taking the first stitches.
Test your machine and tweak the top tension until the top and bobbin threads meet in the middle of the fabric. (Increased top tension will pull the bobbin thread up. Decreased top tension will allow the bobbin thread to pull the top thread down.)

Machine is not making stitches. Properly threaded and the thread advances, but no stitches.

Install a brand new needle.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning.
Make sure the thread path for the top thread is correct and that the bobbin case is threaded properly and the bobbin turns the correct direction in the bobbin case--install the bobbin case.
If the machine still will not stitch, it is likely it has been knocked out of time.

Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.

Check that you are installing the needle correctly, that the machine is threaded properly. Use only fresh, good quality thread--no bargain bin or old thread. Be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top thread. Check that the bobbin is loaded and threaded correctly. Make sure the feed dogs are up and the stitch length is set to at least #2. If you are still having problems, it could need some adjustment.

I have a Brother PR-650. When machine starts to sew the first stitch, Thread comes out at the top usuall sticking up about a half an inch. What can I do to avoid this

When threading the top thread, ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot. This releases the tension disk so the thread will seat properly. Be sure the thread path is correct and that you have pulled at least 4-6" of thread tail through the needle before taking the first stitch. Begin the first stitch with the take-up lever at it's highest point. Begin sewing slowly--even hand-rotating the handwheel through the first stitch may help. Gently hold the top and bobbin thread tails in your left hand while taking the first stitch to prevent the thread from pulling backward.

Pulling the bobbin thread to the top of the fabric is also beneficial.

Problem with singer 590c. Thread bunches up & breaks or the bobbin thread wont sew. 1 time happened to get everything right & it sewed beautifully.Today I cant get it to pick up the bobbin thread.

Make sure to use a brand new needle.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading.
Unthread and re-thread from the beginning.
Verify the thread path is correct.
Set the upper tension to midway between High & Low numbers.
Verify the bobbin is loaded and threaded correctly in the bobbin case.
Begin sewing slowly and check the result. The upper tension can be tweaked so the upper & bobbin threads meet in the middle of the fabric.

If it is still not working properly, the machine may be out of time and require service.

If it is creating a thread mess (thread nest) under the fabric, either the machine is not threaded correctly or you have forgotten to lower the presser foot before beginning to stitch.

Make sure you are starting with a brand new needle!

Remove all the thread from the machine.

Check that the bobbin thread is smoothly wound onto the bobbin and that the bobbin is inserted and thread properly in the machine.

ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread the upper thread. Check that the thread path is correct.

Set the upper tension to the midway point on the dial--this is usually the factory setting but may alter over time with use. Once you get your machine stitching without a mess, you can gently alter the upper tension until the two threads meet in the middle of the fabric.

Remember to lower the presser foot before beginning to stitch.

It also helps to pull the bobbin thread up to the top of the fabric and either wrapping both thread tails around a finger on the left hand or gently holding the thread tails between the left index finger and thumb. Then SLOWLY begin stitching.

Before you begin sewing, it is always helpful to pull up the bobbin thread up through the project fabric.

Before you take the first stitch, be sure the thread take-up lever is at its highest point. Then, gently hold the two thread tails in your left hand and slowly begin to stitch.

Machine won't stitch

If by "won't stitch" you mean that the top thread will not pick up the bottom thread, make sure you have the needle threaded properly. If the machine is a top loading bobbin, the thread goes in the needle from front to back. Same if it's a side loading bobbin (bobbin faces you as you sew). If it's a front loading bobbin (bobbin faces left of machine), the thread goes in the needle from left to right.

ANOTHER THING IS TO CHECK THE TENSION OF THE BOBBIN THREAD. MAKE SURE THE THREAD YOU ARE USING IS GOOD THREAD THAT DOESN'T PULL THE COTTON UP AND CAUSE A PUFF BALL ON THE NEEDLE. CHECK THE WAY YOU ARE LOADING THE TOP THREAD. ALWAYS DO THIS WHILE THE FOOT IS UP SO THAT YOU CAN CONTINUOUSLY GIVE TUGS THROUGH EACH OF THE GUIDES. THIS HAS TO BE LITTLE TENSION WITH NO SNAGS.
