Question about Dell Dimension 5100 (D51L1) PC Desktop

1 Answer

No powerup I recently moved my computer. Before powering backup, I disconnected everything, opened the side cover, connected my grounding strap, blew out the inside with air duster and vacuumed out the dust. Now the computer will not power up. The green led is lit on the motherboard but it will not start. I checked to make sure all plugs are connected securely. Not sure what to do?

The passenger side electric window will not go down on a Ford F-250. You'll hear a click from inside the door panel but the window does not move.

I would open the door panel up and check to see if everything is connected first. Then if it is I would disconnect the motor then check to see if your getting power to the motor by testing the hot wire (red) to the red lead of your multimeter and the black lead to ground. Also, check the ground wire by connecting the black wire to the red lead of the multimeter and the black lead to ground. If your getting power then your motor is bad. If your not getting power or enough power check your wires. If you don't have a ground then repair the ground wire. I am betting your motor is either bad or something is not connected properly in there.

How do I replace the valve cover gasket on a 2002 Saturn L200, 2.2 engine?

Disconnect the camshaft cover grounding strap.Right side of engine.
Remove ignition module, 4 bolts , and disconnect the electrical connection to it. Pull straight up to remove.
Remove 4 spark plugs.
Remove the coolant pipe bracket.
Remove the fuel line bracket.
Remove the 12 bolts holding down the cover, then pry up around the edges GENTLY to remove. You might want to use a rubber mallet at this stage, just don't overdo hitting it, its cast aluminum..
The gasket around the edge and around the spark plug holes don't need sealant, the new design does away with this.
Now would be a good time to check the wear on the Teflon timing chain shield between the camshaft sprockets.
Installation is in reverse order.
Camshaft cover bolts : Tighten to 89 INCH pounds.
Camshaft Ground Strap Bolt : 89 INCH pounds.
Spark Plugs : 15 FOOT pounds.
Ignition coil to camshaft cover bolts : 71 INCH pounds.
Coolant pipe AND Fuel line bracket bolts: 89 INCH pounds.
Good luck.

Just got one of these in. Same problem. You may not have to purchase parts for this one. If you can open the back cover,(there will be two wires still connected to cover upon opening, remove these, to actually pull cover off) be careful. You will find a power supply board on the left side. Take the power supply out. (Be sure your TV has not been plugged in for about 4 hours to reduce shock.) You will need to resolder the pins on resistor RP 12. I found a bad ground. Also resolder pins on Transfomer T2 and T3( these are yellow boxes on top of board). We are are soldering under the board of coarse. Now on the right side of the power supply board, find the signal board. You will see four grounding strips taped in black. Purchase at hardware store, metal tape (used for taping duct work). Retape the four ground straps, while pressing down on these springing ground straps. Many, many times a bad ground will cause problems as described. Replace boards and cover and cover wires (as mentioned on removal). If you cannot do this, take this info to a TV tech. Let me know how this works. Thanks for asking, sincerely Matt of Martins TV Repair.

My monitor went off, is there any other way to turn the desk top computer off other than disconnecting it? Gateway GT5676

The internal components of the computer are sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD). Damage to the motherboard, memory modules, and peripheral cards can occur if these parts are exposed to ESD. If you are familiar with and have a grounding strap, use it while handling any internal components. If you do not have a grounding strap, it is a good idea to touch the computer case anywhere on the bare metal prior to disconnecting the power cord.

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty. Doub .A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful to you. nitro-1600w-four-channel-lv2kkrmxrai4iihdvw4m3np2-2-0.jpg

The backlight power supply in the H950 series suffers from a manufacturing defect. Hansol might replace the unit even if it's not covered by warranty anymore. Contact them.

Otherwise (and if you have electronics skills), replace the electrolytic caps in the monitor's power supply. Take proper high voltage precautions!
  • Disconnect mains
  • Wait at least one day for caps to discharge a bit
  • Remove monitor stand (four screws)
  • Put the monitor face-down on the table, plugs facing to you
  • Remove back cover (snap-in, difficult to open without minor damage) - be cautious: front buttons are connected using a rather short cable, do NOT try to remove front cover
  • Remove EMV casing screws (four screws) and ground wire
  • Disconnect CCFL tubes (four connectors), noting connector orientation
  • Disconnect front buttons pcb
  • Lift EMV casing side facing to you
  • Disconnect power supply board (left) from signal board
  • Unscrew/remove power supply board - caution: C12 is likely to store mains voltage even after days!
  • Replace caps (C34 and C66 are likely failure candidates for IPHS19-S rev1.2 boards; you might also replace C31, C32, and C35 while you are at it) - higher voltage and temperature rating are okay, capacity has to match
  • Assemble everything again
