Problems with my iHP-120 iRiver mp3 player

Good chance it is the hard drive - that's a fairly old technology. I have heard of some people having some success replacing the HD with a compact flash card on some older mp3 players, I seem to recall the connector is the same. I guess if you have a suitable CF card reader, you may be able to remove the hard drive and check it out with the reader - there are some hard drive diagnostic tools out there you can try. Gibson research's spinrite was pretty good back in the day, not sure it is still useful for more modern drives.

Xerox 7435, got from company who pulled out the hard drive, so I am missing hard drive and the OS, how can I get in going? What type of hardrive do I need?

Hi Arthur
Look at the cable that would connect to the hard drive.
The Data side is either SCSI, or ATA or SATA.
Look these up on Google and see what matches.
All modern Hard Drives are 3.5" for desktop computers or 2.5" for laptops. Visit a site such as OWC (Other World Computing) to purchase a drive.
Only Xerox would have the OS unless you know where there is an old copy.

Why is my quantum fireball hdd's led light flashing, bios failed to detect hdd?

Wow, you have a Quantum Fireball? I haven't heard about that hard drive model family in years, decades actually. They were last marketed back in 2001 but were most popular in the early to mid 1990s. Given the very low Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF) values of drives in that era, I am surprised that the drive has survived up to this time.

If I were to make a guess, I would say that your old IDE Fireball has gone the way of the dodo bird. Time to get something new and much more modern. IDE drives are no longer manufactured as it is an outmoded technology in favor of SATA. If you still have a machine that uses IDE, then definitely replace the machine with something much more modern and faster that will have a more spacious SATA drive.

What volt adapter for WD 3200H1U-00?

Most external hard disks use a 12 volt 2 amp power supply. The modern ones are small and cheap. Be aware the power plug should be the same as the power plug on the old power supply. and the polarity also.

How difficult is it to replace a hard drive?

Replacing the hard drive is not too difficult. You will need the operating system disc to reinstall windows or you could try a free Linux (like Ubuntu) operating system.
On the bottom of the laptop there is a 2 access panels the small one is the memory and the larger is the hard drive. You just need to remove the screw and and the hard drive will be below. You just need to see what type it is by the connection. There are 2 types IDE or SATA; Ide had a wide ribbon connector and SATA has a small connector. The old hard drive will also have the type stamped on the label. You should go will a larger capacity than what was in there. For example if you have a 250GB you can add a larger 750GB or more. Make sure the power is off and remove the battery before starting the process.
If you just need more storage and the old hard drive is still working you could just buy an external usb hard drive and keep all your pictures and music on that.
Thanks for using FixYa

My gtx 465 which was made by kfa, keeps shutting down my whole pc down, it heats up fast and then shuts down while im playing call of duty modern warfare2, I do have a great air flow in my case plus fans,...

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
hope this helps

How do i find out if my hhd is pata or sata, etc.?

Hi, this is pretty easy,

Computers about 5 - 6 years old are usually use IDE hard drives, most modern units, are indeed Sata, but if your want a proper reassurance, just open the case and look at the cables. If you see a wide, gray cable that sticking out the hard drive, then your computer is using IDE hard drives. If they're thin (a little wider than your thumb), then you computer is using SATA hard drives. A picture of both types of cables is included below. :D Source(s): IDE Cable:…

Where can I locate a Maxtor: 7245A 245MB 3.5"/SL IDE / AT

That is a *VERY* old disk-drive, not a printer.
Modern disk-drives from MAXTOR are, for example, 200GB or 300GB,
namely about 1000 times as much capacity as the 245MB disk-drive.

Try any local computer-store that sells "used" hardware.
Probably, any hard-drive *SMALLER* than 8.4GB can be substituted, and still be compatible with your computer's motherboard.
