I have a Samsung 50". It has a hookup for Red, Blu & Green. WII is red, white & yellow. I bought a Audio & Video adaptor cable from Gamestop that converted the Wii from r,w & y to r,bl & gr. But it made no difference. The pic is still white & grey.
    Thanx for your help.

a 3D tv is another form of an HD TV, you need the Wii HD cable to play it right, and make sure you plug it into the HD ports on the TV to get the color and sound back.

I just hooked my wii & all we get is black & white

I had the same problem. Instead of going directly into the TV, I tried plugging the component cable into the auxiliary jack in my digital cable box and that seemed to fix it. Works great now.

I found a better way and it works fine. I have a new 32 inch Emerson, with only one composit hood up ( which won't work with the wii) 2 HDMI's ( again does not hook up to the wii, the monitor hook up for PC, red and white ( yellow plus is not there it's for a stereo they told me), and the usb hook up ( which is more for pictures I was told by the company). The answer was to hook my RCA plus to the red and white under the composite, then hook the yellow into the green plug of the composite, and behold- my will now works fine.

I have a Samsung and just hooked up a Wii and am getting only black and white on the screen. How do I troubleshoot this? Thanks.

Your TV is probably an HDTV. Change the settings of your Wii to HD and it should have color. If you don't want to do that, make sure your RCA cables are pluged into the non-HD RCA slots on your TV and that the yellow cable goes to the yellow non-HD slot and not the green HD one.

I have a samsung 50 inch hd tv and need to find out how to hook up my wii system using a hdmi cable (color coded: red, grrn, blue, red & white)

Post back with Model # of TV
Check at back panel if it has inputs with similar colors they should be labelled "Component" input. Red,grn and blue are your color and the lighter guage red and white is your sound. If no Component in is found hook to a standard video in with grn going to yel and red and wht are for sound.

Wii only works in black and white

either your Wii or your TV dont match, one will be PAL and one will be NTSC or vice versa.
if you have a HD TV buy an HD composite cable off ebay for about £4 and it should sort it.

How to hook up wii to surround sound

You need to connect your amplifier to your TV, (Video Out of Amp to video In of TV), then select the input where you connected your WII in amp.
Or you could just connect the yellow plug to the TV directly, and the white and red plug to your amplifier.
A note thou, Red and White will not give "True" surround sound as it has only 2 channels, you need to connect a digital input to the amp to get true surround.

Plug in the wii system and everything comes in black and white

Try plugging it into another scart socket, this sometimes happens when a tv does not support 60hz. the result is a screen that has no colour. You could try just plugging it onto the seperate av inputs. Most tv's these days have one scart that will work ok and in colour.
