The trolley may be jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor unit. If so remove the bolt and then run the opener until the door is closed. Now locate the 'up limit' control on the side of the motor unit and turn this control 2 full turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Remember to replace the bolt.

Now I understand!
While not with a Maserati, in the past when this has happened to me, I was able to simply trip the latch and close the door.

Anytime the light flashes 10 times when the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem. Make sure the small light on each sensor is lit and not flickering. Tweak them a little. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have bad sensors.

You don't say but I am going to assume the door is stuck in the open position. Loosen the chain enough to relieve the tension on the trolley. Now run the opener until the door closes. While the door is closed locate the 'up limit' control on the side of the motor unit. Turn this control 2 full turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Tighten the chain.

The code for 5 flashes is " Motor overheated or possible RPM sensor failure. Unplug to reset." Also if the door is stuck in the open position it could be the trolley is jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor unit.

With the door disconnected, the chain moves about a foot then stops, the light flashes, and the chain moves back to its starting position.

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem. Make sure they are pointed at one another and the small light on each is lit and not flickering. If tweaking them a bit doesn't correct the situation you could have a bad sensor.

Motor humms but door doesn't go up or down!

5 flashes is the code for "RPM sensor board or motor overload." If your door is stuck in the open position the trolley may be jammed against a bolt just in front of the motor unit. Remove the bolt and run the opener until the door is closed. Now locate the 'up limit' control on the side of the motor unit and turn it a couple turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Be sure to replace the bolt.

Craftsman 1/2HP Door Opener won't stay closed

Loosen the chain and run the opener until the sprocket runs in the counter clockwise direction and stops. Now with the door in the open position replace the chain. This will get everything back into sync but I hope you remembered where all those controls were. You need to put them back in their original positions.
