Machine wont drain and the door wont open

Ok I have a major problem... I have tried everything i can think of. My machine is the ASKO W6221. I put a load in to wash and it washed fine but when it came to the draining part it doesn't work. It just makes this rattling sound, sounds like there is some change or pebbles rattling around in the bottom or something, then it just hums and no draining happens. I tried setting it to #11 the "Drain" cycle but nothing happens just the sounds I described. Now I have a load of laundry stuck in there and there is water in the bottom so it wont let me open the door! What do I do... my favorite jeans are in there!

I have had this problem several times now. I have to drain and check the trap. Sometimes I pull out a coin, think the problem is solved only to discover that it still will not drain. I then have to call an expensive repair person. Is there something I can do myself?

The solution worked thank you, drained machine and cleaned out trap as per chapter 10 of user manual and all working fine now. Note: ensure to check up the inlet line in the trap with your finger as there could be some items in there, also check fan/prop to ensure it turns freely. Was amazed of what I found in the trap see picture below, pays to check pockets prior to washing.

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too. Note: ref to your manual re the filter cleaning.

My washer w6221 won't drain

Check this following things then your washer will be fine.
* Has the drain hose been put flat on the floor?
* Is the drain hose clogged with lint?
* Is the drain hose kinked?
* Is any part of the drain hose higher than 20 cms from the floor level?
* Is the extension drain hose longer than 3 m?
* Is a narrow drain hose being used?

Thanks for your question.

I have an Asko W6221. I've just hooked it up and everything seems work work fine except for the temperature dial. It won't turn. It's stuck on the lowest setting. What am I doing wrong?

Hi, welcome to FixYa. If you look directly under the dial, below the rim of the front panel, there should be a lock button. Asko has this safety built in to prevent temp. Change after starting a wash. It is likely in the lock position. This is so once you set the temp. It won't accidently get changed during the cycle. Push it in and turn to lock it, turn and release should "unlock" it. You can also leave it locked by simply pushing it in long enough to turn the temp dial. Hope that helps, let me know how you do or if my explaination isn't clear. Thanks for choosing FixYa, please take a second to rate this solution. Good luck. macmarkus :)

When u use front loaders you normally don't need a soak. And i don't think you need bleach. Use front loading powders for the machine. The automatic machine is supposed to work for you. The water empties out, so you can open the door.

Rate me pl if helped..............

Try to replace the motor brushes. This is the most usual problem on these machines.

Asko w6221 front load washer stops after wash cycle

Do all of your cycles work when you turn them manually? If one cycle does not work when you turn the dial on it then it will be your timer (The dial assembly $100-up) If all your cycles work manually, then it could be your timer motor which is attached to your timer assembly. If you turn the dial pass the wash, on to the rinse, does the dial automaticly move (when finishng the rinse cycle)to the spin cycle? If so then your timer motor is ok. The only wires close to the bottom are the motor, but these should be high enough out of the way.
