Is your modem's output going to the WAN connector on your router? Is your computer connected to one of the router's LAN ports to your desktop LAN?

Did you complete the Wireless and Security sections of the router setup? This MUST be done in order to use the router wirelessly. First step is to set the SSID (Network Name) that appears on connected computers. The Security section helps insure access to only those with an access code, set in this same section. The Passcode has to be remembered, as it is the only way to access the router wirelessly.. If the Passcode is ever forgotten, is only reset by replacing with these very same steps. Please let me know what happens after these steps are completed.

Check to see if the LAN card is enabled and working. If not install the LAN card driver.
If the LAN driver is working then go to Control Panel - Network Connections - right click on the LAN card then click on Properties, then check the TCP/IP settings of the LAN card, Tick Obtain an IP address automatically and tick Obtain an DNS server address automatically.
Then you will be able to connect to the Internet.

One of Intel DP55kg Motherboard desktop shows 100 mbps Lan connection when the other desktop shows 1gbps. why?

It depends upon the make and model of the LAN card. The one in the Intel may be a 10/100Mbps LAN card and the other one a 1Gbps LAN card.
You cannot make a 10/100Mbps LAN card run any faster than it was designed for.

How do you connect to the internet on a sony pcv-120 since i dont see a ethernet plug in anywhere

It is possible that your desktop does not have a LAN card installed.
Go into the Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager and click on Network Adapters and if there isn't a LAN adapter then there isn't one installed.
Then you need to purchase a LAN card and install it in your desktop computer.

Hi there, I am using Window xp on my desktop and window 7 on my laptop. Lan card on desktop is quantum lan card QHM8100R3D. Problem: I have Belkin F5D7234-4 Router and when i tried to connect...

Verify that you haven't manually set the IP address of the desktop machine to an IP address that conflicts with another device on your network.
If this is the case, change the network settings to use Automatic or DHCP IP address assignment.
If this doesn't fix the issue, I suggest trying a different network card than the QHM8100R3D to see if that addresses the issue.
