Speaker/audio settings

So... it definately selects Pro Logic automatically because I'm not using a digital optical audio cable....
When I turn Surround ON... the audio no longer comes in on the L/R speakers... I only get audio on the center speaker.
When I turn Surround OFF... the audio comes in only on the Center speaker...
When I set the DSP mode, Surround goes OFF... if I turn Surround ON the DSP mode goes OFF.
Can you be more specific about what you think the solution is?
I have the manual but when it reads that I should see a L or R level adjustment, I just see the L/R balance, and it is centered and should work fine, but no audio from L/R when Surround is ON.
