Thanks, but unfortunately it won't start up safe mode and the computer doesn't have a CD drive. I am trying to avoid taking the hard drive out making it a slave drive in another computer but I can't find any other option.

Try this
1. Boot using your winxp cd.
2. Enter recovery console.
3. at the command prompt go to
C:/windows/system32
4. next type:
copy userinit.exe wsaupdater.exe
5. exit and reboot normally. You should now be able to logon. But you're not done yet!
6. run regedit
7. find the Userinit key in:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsNTCurrentVersionWinlogon
8. modify the entry:
C:WINDOWSSystem32wsaupdater.exe
so that it reads:
C:WINDOWSSystem32userinit.exe

Try to boot in to safe mode and see does it still happen. u can choose safe mode with networking so if you have to download some kinda driver u can do so. make sure u default profile is there. if this does not work use any kind of a xp cd (u can ask ur friends) as long as it's same version ie.. xp home or xp pro. and run the repair from it. good luck.

If running XP

A log-on loop on your Windows XP computer is a difficult situation where the computer never completes its boot cycle, restarting intermittently ad nauseam.

This issue indicates a major problem with the boot functionality of your XP system.

Restore the computer to working order by utilizing the repair and restoration utility on your XP system disk.

Insert the XP disk into the computer.

Restart the computer.

Press any key when prompted to boot from the disk.

Press "Enter" at the first screen and "F8" at the license terms.

Highlight the drive containing XP and press "R," repairing the operating system boot files and removing the log-on loop.

or

Windows XP sometimes has a glitch when you are logging in to your user account in order to boot the operating system.

The glitch logs you in and then logs you off the account.

This problem is usually caused by one of the programs that load during the computer's start-up.

Fixing this issue is a matter of ensuring that whatever program is causing the problem doesn't start up as soon as you start your computer.

or

Power on the computer and allow it to get to the user logon page normally.

There is no need to start up the computer in "safe mode."

Click the user who is having the issue and type in the user's password if one is set up.

Press and hold the "shift" button on your computer keyboard as soon as you see the tool bar load up at the bottom of the screen but before any other program has a chance to do so.

This stops any "Startup" program from running and logging you off.

Right-click the "Start" button on the bottom left of your screen.

Select "Explore" from the menu that appears.

Double-click "Programs" from the list on the left side of the window that pops up.

Double-click "Startup."

Select all the files inside the "Startup" folder by dragging a box over them.

Right-click anywhere on the selected files.

Select "Delete" to delete those files.

Note that deleting the programs from the "Startup" folder does not delete them from your computer.

All this does is make it so that these programs no longer start as your computer is starting so that any error in the running of the programs doesn't interfere with logging in to your account.

Hope this helps

How to log In windows XP if you forgot your password....

Hello everyone

If ever you forget your passwords on windows XP especially try boot the computer in safe mode by pressing F8 (tap repeatedly during start off immediately when its turned on)...and log onto the administrators account...From there go to control panel and select the user accounts option and change your password form there...Also create a reset disk to avoid problems later on when you next forget the password(which i trust you won't :) )

Good Luck

(PS if it does not work there are plenty of programs that can reset these password...)

Do not have password too get in windows xp pro

Do you have another valid administrator account which can normally log on? If so, you can log on as the administrator to change the account you forgotten.
Or,you can think about the Windows Password Reset , it is very usefull and convenient.

At last,I suggeset you to create a reset disk after reset windows password so you will not afriad forgot windows password any more.

Okay so my friend put a password on her sylvania laptop and she forgot it and now she wants to know how to get it to default settings can you help?

What the Os do you use?
Vista and Windows 7 allow you to create a password reset disk.If you installed Windows XP, boot up Windows XP in Safe Mode and log on with the built-in administrator account.

Besides, using WindowsPassword Reset is a good method.

In my experience, use windows password reset tool is the best method to reset windows password.

When my computer is turned on it shows the blue login page, when i click on the login icon, it goes to log-in but logs out automatically by itself.

Hello jwbandit402,

Try booting the computer into "Safe Mode" by pressing the F8 key at startup and see if it will continue with the login process. If not try performing a "Repair Installation" with your Windows Install disc to repair any corrupted system files that may be keeping you from logging in.

Hope this helps. Don't forget to leave feedback. Thank you.
