Question about Panasonic DMR-T3040 DVD Recorder

Open Question

Indicates: No Disc or U11

My Panasonic DMR-T3040 will no longer recognize or read DVD-R discs, both blank and recorded - even those recorded earlier on this machine.
It still reads commercially pressed DVD's, but no longer DVD-R or DVD-Rams. Hard drive is still good... I just can't record on it any longer.
This problem began intermittently and has now become constant.
I love this recorder, it's served me well so any help is appreciated.

Best regards,
Rob Mize

SOURCE: DMR E55-P will not read DVD-R

Hi Benyto

Thank you for the information. Sorry that you are having such problems.

Nearly all the problems on ths DMR E55 are due to a faulty power board. The greatest load on the power supply is when the unit first reads discs and also when finalizing. Sometimes the unit cannot read discs and sometimes it continuously self checks.

Try replacing IC001 on the power board. This is a 5 pin regulator #STRG6353. This component gets very hot and the heatsink is poor. When I replace these, I use a larger heatsink and some heatsink paste which helps to prolong the life of the component. If you look at the regulator, you will see by the colour of the circuit board that it gets very hot. It fails after two or three years in all DMR E55s.

Be careful when you take the old regulator out because the print can lift away from the circuit board.

I have posted full instructions on how to replace the STRG6353 >HERE<

Hope this helps

SOURCE: DVD recording problems

I have the same unit with the same exact problem. I ended up taking it in for repair and it's now working perfectly. I paid $100 for the repair. I dropped the unit off and picked it up myself. I think $30 additional is charged for shipping and handling in US.

SOURCE: DVD Code Problem No FVU

You need to install or update the Firmware. Go to and search your model. You will then need to download the firmware for your player and burn it/mount it as an ISO file on to cd. Just follow the instructions and you'll be up and running in no time.

It took me about 25min, but it is working fine now.

Won't recognise DVD Ram and non-finalised discs from own recordings.

Usually, the U11 error code in a Panasonic DVD player indicates an optical problem. You could of course try doing a cleaning using a CD cleaner normally readily from computer parts stores. Alternately, you can open the unit up and do a manual cleaning with soft bristle brush and/or cotton buds. Other than that, it could be indicative of a weakening laser eye which of course would require parts replacement.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you

need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

DMR-EH75V DVD Recorder

Yes, it would not recognize any type of disc. The disc icon was always present on the display even though no disc was inserted. Also, mine went out while recording from HDD to DVD. Panasonic had mine repaired in two business days and it' s working great.

I recently bought a Panasonic DVD Recorder DMR-EZ27. And it does not read blank DVD's. I've tried different brands of DVD-R's, DVD R's, and DVD-RW's. However it will play and recognize pre-recorded DVD's....

The problem still is;nt fixed. I bought the dvd recorder from a person that buys customer returns at an auction. I contacted him and he offered to give me a full refund or another recorder. He thought it might be a software problem. Thanks for getting back to us on this problem.

The disc drive motor is burned out, its junk...if you didn't finalize the discs, they're junk too unless you buy another Panasonic DMR.
