Question about Dell Latitude D510 Notebook

1 Answer

Won't power up.

My computer will not stay on. When I push the power button the lights will come on for about 3 secs, but then power down (no matter if the computer is plugged into power or not). It does however show when the battery pack is plugged in.

I need some info on the computer, yet I cannot simply turn it on.

That sounds like a daughter card has come loose. It is likely the video card.

Your computer has a motherboard with cards that affix to it: "daughter cards" these cards are modules that perform certain functions. The video card is a daughter card. When you press power, a P O S T (power on self test) occurs. if the test fails, pc goes off. You likely need to take the machine in to a shop and have them break it down and reassemble it. (I had a similar issue recently with a dell inspiron 8500)
