Hi,

If you already tried cleaning the print head / cartridge then there are only two possibilities :

1. The print heads are worn out with usage.
2. The cartridge you bought is faulty (less probable)

If the printer is in warranty then you should get it repaired by Epson for free. If not, you will have to send the printer to Epson for paid repair.

To be very honest, these print heads are made of poor quality so that you need to replace them and Epson can make money. That's why they sell cartridges at cheaper cost.

Please don't even think of sending it for repair to Epson if its out of warranty or anyone as again that will make hole in your pocket. Cheapest option is to buy new printer.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I am getting lines going through my documents I print. It scans perfect. How do I stop the lines from being there?

I do not know what printer you have, but usually under "printing preferences", there is a tab or an option called "maintenance". You should try an locate it. Then find the option "head cleaning". If you do, just follow the instructions. You might do it several times, so bear in mind that it will use a lot of your ink.
The second solution is to change the print quality (also in "preferences"), from "normal" to "best". That uses some more ink, but should cover the lines.
Hope that helps!

All of my prints are faded. i have always had these issues with this thing. every now and then it prints fine but rarely.

If you do not print regularly on an ink-jet printer, the prints will not be good. You can try going to "print preferences", find the "maintenance" tab, then do what is called a "head cleaning". Cleaning your print head might help improve the printing quality. You might have to do this several times, depending on the quality you seek. Also, bear in mind that cleaning the print head uses a lot of ink from your cartridges.
You can also try and change the quality from "normal" to "best" (also located in "properties", under "print quality" or something similar). Also, you should always adjust your printer to best mode when printing photos.
Hope that helps!

Photos print with a faint 'pinstripe' effect

that could be head alignment (most noticible on low quality settings .. there is a procedure for aligning the heads ... or it could be clogged nozzles
to check these things start to print something
then select preferences .. then maintainence then
you have a choice .. nozzle check should be done first .. if all nozzles are working then go to "head alignment" and follow instructions there .. if some nozzles are not working then run the "cleaning" utility . sometimes it needs to do that several times .. if you cant get all nozzles working then you can try "deep cleaning" that uses lots of ink so you dont want to do that often ... if that doesnt work then you need new heads .. the heads in many pixma printers are easily replacable but costly ..
if all the nozzles are working and head alignment was done but you still have faint lines then try "high quality mode" .. in that mode you should not see any lines ..

My epson stylus photo printer is printing a black vertical line in all my prints. I have done the head cleaning and print head alignment several times. Is there anything else I can do?

black vertical lines on the printout comes due to some reasons.
1) if the black cartridge is near to its end it will give black lines instead of proper printing.
the cartridges gets over many times due to head cleaning and deep cleaning.in 3-4 cleanings cartridge gets over.in one cleaning 4 ml of ink gets puled out of cartridge.the whole quantity of cartridge is near to 25 ml.
but if the cartridge is full then the problem is of cartridge head .the head is the part in which you insert the cartridges if the head is got blocked internally to its holes from where ink comes out.then there are two methods to clean the head one is head cleaning which you did.the other is removing the head by disassembling the printer and then cleaning the head manually with isoprophyll liquid.but its a time consuming and tough job.a local printer repair center will be advisable,
and in some cases it has seen that cartridge gets air pressure problem inside and due to that it leaks inside the printer so replacing that cartridge solves the problem.also many times the cartridge gets leaked and that leaked ink gets collected and stuck up on the roller of the printer from where paper passes so the strips of ink gets printed on the paper.in this case no head cleaning but cleaning the internal roller of the printer with tissue paper helps.the procedure is called servicing.that can also be done at local printer repair center.or you can do it manually by using tissue paper.but to service whole printer it needs to be disassemble.
check out his option.thanks.

My photo prints have lines across them?!

the glossy paper you are using (hp) is smearing the ink... there is now ink on the feed rollers and you need to get in there and clean it all up with alcohol...also run epson matt paper for a few prints to get the color to lay down ..good luck

Solution: Clean The Print Head Nozzles (Windows) MP500 / MP800
lean The Print Head Nozzles (Windows) The following contains instructions to check the nozzles for poor print quality and perform cleanings of the print head nozzles as necessary. If print results are faint or streaks are printed, the print head nozzles may be clogged. Those phenomena can be improved by performing print head cleanings or print head deep cleanings. nozzlecheckflow_en.jpg

Well, go to your local Ink Link franchise and ask them to clean the print heads on your cartridges, that should solve your problem. They should have the proper tools for that and you won't be wasting any more ink on software cleaning.
