Locked memory card

How do I unlock my SanDisk memory card? The slider button is there but even when I slide it away from "lock", my camera still shows it as memory card error, card locked.

Just tried to download images from Sandisk extreme III 8G, it has just locked its self somehow, this has happened before, I think it is my reader not my card. As last on was a Kingston.
The directory seems to be confused some how, saying zero K on the the locked folder, but the card is full on camera and but no folder found. OSX 10.4.
    Can anyone please help?

I guess it is a simple switch problem..

try to switching it between lock and unlock many times until it become ok again..

If it will still not unlock itself, try to format it, for some errors to erased and starts a new one.

My readout says "card locked"

Look at your memory card. SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

4GB Sandisk is write protected; I don't know what I pushed to do that, but now I need to unlock it so I can use my camera. Please help

On the side of the SDHC memory card is a sliding lock I have a diagram to show where this is and which direction to push the slider. Here is the diagram.
Picture heretri3mast_23.jpg
Also to make the SDHC work compatible with your camera you need to format the memory card. Each time you download the picture files the memory card needs to be formatted, never format in the computer and expect the card to work in the camera.

SanDisk 1GB Card is locked

There is a little slider on the right hand side of your memory card. If the slider is towards the bottom of the card the card is locked. When the slider is towards the top of the card your card is unlocked. So all you need to do is to slide the little slider towards the top of your memory card.

Memory card is locked. Where is the lock?

This is usually caused by the SD card, and is nothing to do with the camera. On the SD card there is a small slider - which allows you to lock the card (to prevent accidental erasure).

If you put in on the table with contacts upwards, corner cut top left, then the slider is on the right hand edge, about 1/3 the way down. If it is slid to the top position (nearest the contacts) the card is unlocked. If it is slid down (away from the contacts) the card is locked.

If it is a damaged / "cheap" card, sometimes the slider falls out, in which case the card is locked. You can still read from it, but not write to it until fixed or replaced.

First check is to turn the camera off, remove the card, move the slider to locked, then back to unlocked. Replace in the camera and turn on.
