Locked memory card

How do I unlock my SanDisk memory card? The slider button is there but even when I slide it away from "lock", my camera still shows it as memory card error, card locked.

Re: locked memory card

the unlocking is due to digital camera and not due to card. card do not have any locking feature. checkup on camera password

or alternately ask replacement fm company as this as 5 yrs warranty

You can ty to unlock it then put it in a computer that has a card reader and format it using a computer that should confuse that camera to accept it again

I have not been able to get the write protection removed even after unlocking the memory card

Toggle the lock switch.

If the lock switch is not on lock:
1. Slide the switch up and down. Repeat this 3 times.
2. Let it stay on the Lock position for 30 seconds.
3. Slide the switch up to unlock the card.
4. Try to transfer files into the device.

Card locked

An SD memory card usually has a little white slider on the outside of it. I says in small letter, with a little arrow "LOCK" . Push the slider in the opposite direction of the arrow i.e. to unlock it.
If this is the case, then the camera should be able to communicate and write to the card.
There is also the possibility that the device in the camera which detects this slider is damaged. In that case the camera should be repaired. I think, though you will be OK moving the slider.

There is also the possibility that the card is corrupted. See the Link below
I hope this has helped you.
Happy New Year,
Best, Mark

Somehow we locked our Sandisk Extreme SD HC 4gb card. And now when we put it in the camera, it says card locked. Can anybody help how to unlock it?

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

SanDisk 1GB Card is locked

There is a little slider on the right hand side of your memory card. If the slider is towards the bottom of the card the card is locked. When the slider is towards the top of the card your card is unlocked. So all you need to do is to slide the little slider towards the top of your memory card.

Not able to format or add anything to mmc

This is usually caused by the SD card adapter, and is nothing to do with the camera or the microSD card. On the SD card adaptor there is a small slider - which allows you to lock the card (to prevent accidental erasure).

If you put in on the table with contacts upwards, corner cut top left, then the slider is on the right hand edge, about 1/3 the way down. If it is slid to the top position (nearest the contacts) the card is unlocked. If it is slid down (away from the contacts) the card is locked. (In the above picture, we are talking the left adaptor, and the left hand side - just where the line splits the red from blue).

If it is a damaged / "cheap" adaptor card, sometimes the slider falls out, in which case the card is locked. You can still read from it, but not write to it until fixed or replaced.

First check is to move the slider to locked, then back to unlocked. The replace in the MMC reader and see what you get.

My SanDisk memory card for my HP Photosmart R740 wont let me format the card or delete photos from the camra or take new photos, please help!

The card may have failed on you or the write protect slide over enough to lock the card. Take the card out and looking at the label to the left is a notch on the side. In the notch will be a tiny button or slide. Move it to the top (away from the gold connectors) to unlock. If you still cannot delete you may have a dud card. You can try to reformat on a different computer or with a different operating system. For example windows won't work but Mac or Linux might work.
