When I power up I hear a clicking sound. Goes into stand-by mode

My TV lost the picture. I had sound. I checked the fuses and found a 4 amp fuse blown on the y-sus board. I replaced it and now the set powers up, clicks a few times and goes into standby mode.

I am having the same problem. It happened today for the first time. This morning the TV was working, now, in the afternoon, I tried to turn it on and I get no image. I can't even access the Menu, therefore I have to stick with the HDMI connection, eventhough it would have been a good idea to try other inputs.

Please check the post "Hp 42 plasma tv cptoh 0602 I get sound but no picture" I posted how I went about changing some fuses on this TV, which may actually work for you. Unfortunately it didn't work for me and I'm losing interest, since my first attempt failed. Perhaps if someone posts any other suggestions I will try them before I dump this TV.

So did the fuse replacement worked or you have a new problem after replacing the fuse?

Tv wont stay on

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:

ISSUES:

1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.
2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.
3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.
4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.

Answers to issues:

1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.

2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not.

Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.

What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.

3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have to buyand try a board to see if it fixes it or not.

4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.If set is opened at least look for puffed up and bad caps like in thisphoto.6_11_2012_10_22_27_pm.jpg6_11_2012_10_22_47_pm.jpg

Tv clicks on but no picture yhe stand by light is bliking i have unpluged the tv from wall and the cable box but it justs click when you turn it on no picture could the settings be on

Hi .

The clicks that you hear is an internal device called protection circuit that is shutting down the TV, and forcing the PSU to +5V low only to keep the TV in standby.
That is called protect mode.

If the TV stays in stand-by, with the LED light on, but does not respond to remote, or to the buttons on the chassis, then that means that the TV has gone in protect (safe) mode because an internal fault had been detected.

In that case the TV is usually faulty.

The fuse on the PSU board is not causing protect mode. When the fuse has blown , then the unit stays completely off.

Common faults on rear projection models are Electrolytic capacitors on PSU board (power board), convergence ICs (convergence board). The parts must be tested before replacement. Less common faults could cause the same problem.

Try first disconnecting all connected devices, and leaving the TV disconnected from power for about 30 minutes. To drain power completely.

You cabn follow the basic troubleshooting on this article: Why my TV does not start up and remains in...

If that does not work, contact Sony, ringing the support number listed on the owners manual to get the TV repaired by a licensed technician.

Regards.
