Can't talk long distance seems I can only talk for a hundred yards and then I can't hear other drivers

  • Hi, I can help.

  • The most important part of a CB set up is the antenna and the coax/connectors being used. Make sure your antenna is a good one. If you want a suggestion on a good one leave a comment with your budget and weather your using a mobile/base set up. Make sure your connection is goo. Check the PL259 and make sure the braids have not split off for inside. Soldier a new one on if necessary.

  • I will give you some instructions to peak your CB and adjust the receive. Make sure the CB ha no power and use a plastic screwdriver inside your radio.

  1. Pull the bottom cover off of your radio.
  2. Put a watt/power/SWR meter inline.
  3. VR1 is your receive gain, adjust that to pick up from farther away. Note white noise can occur along with this as you will be sensitizing the front end.
  4. Adjust VR4 for 100% modulation (swing)
  5. Right by the final is a can with some glue on it. Scrape the glue off and turn that ferrite out until your power output is 4 watts RMS (not bird)
  6. Your Cobra 29 is now peaked and tuned as much as possible without using a Oscilloscope. And doing this this way will not require a re-alignment afterward.
  • Don't touch any other pots in the radio.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

Hello, if I want to hook up an external audio device such as a speaker to my Toshiba TDP-ET20 DLP Projector, how do I do that?

Hey,
You will need to buy a digital coax to an RCA or analog Headphone cable. You will plug the digital coax end of the plug into your "coax out" connection on the back of the project.
The other end will depend on your speakers. If your speakers take an RCA connection (white and yellow cables) then you will buy a Digital Coax to RCA cable. If they take a regular headphone jack then you will need a Digital Coax to 3.5mm headphone jack converter, and plug the headphone jack into your speakers.

I can't here people talking

There are some things that can cause this to happen that are simple fixes, and then others are issues inside the radio that need a tech's diagnosis.

I will give you the simple issues.

  • RF gain is down. turn it all the way clockwise.
  • Squelch is too high, turn it down until you hear fuzz, then turn it up until it stops.
  • You my have a problem with your mic. When there is a broken wire in the mic cord then the radio will not go into receive mode. Try a new mic.
  • You may have an antenna or coax problem. Make sure the antenna is tuned to the best SWR, and make sure there is no damage to the coax.
Hope this helps.

Just getting fuzz, no picture or sound

check that the coax cable is complete and has no internal breaks. get a new piece and even paring both ends to wire you should get pic and sound even if its not clear. then attach new plugs and connect. Also check that the outside cable is still connected. If iit goes up into the roof check mice or rats have not chewed the cable.
Even a rabbits ears antenna should be able to oick up some signal even in a poor reception area.

Sometimes if it snot an antenna problem select rescan on the remote to check for signals

Marshall mg100hdfx loud fuzz and distortion and no guitar sound

Check your input (guitar signal).
Also, check your gain and volume levels.
Make sure that you have a reliable, steady, and clean power source as well.
If the problem persists, contact the store from which it was purchased. There are a lot of things that can go wrong internally with the cheaper Marshall models.

Hitachi 50UX23K blows main fuse when just plugging in coax or anything in back

You may a grounding (short) on the coax connector on the set. The connector should isolated from ether side of the AC input of the set. Take a ohm meter, set it to 1K. and test between the coax connector (both the shell and center pin) to both sides of the AC plug. You should get NO reading! If you do, their is a short. (The coax cable is grounded where it comes into the house). As for the relay, try Fry's electronics.

Tivo Programing

You either don't have it hooked up right w/ the source video cables connected or if you've changed setups from one tv to another (different cable box or input) you need to go through guided setup again, but first check your cables, ensure they are going to the inputs (rca or coax) and not going to the outputs.
