Philips 6045 - updating player

I bought the 6045 yesterday and it worked fine for a couple of hours. However, now when I push the on button all I get is a screen saying "updating player". I can't turn it off again or change it. I have tried inserting the pin and re-setting but it made no difference. Anybody help??

Re: philips 6045 - updating player

Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn it off:
1) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips) - if you don't see it, then re-run the installation CD or grab the "Device/Firmware Manager" from the Philips website
2) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button (if the repair tab does not appear immediately, then connect the disconnected GoGear to the PC temporarily - that should make the Repair tab appear)
3) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off (if you haven't done so already) - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

My gogear is frozen. One song ended and before the next one started it froze and it has been like this for several hours. It doesn't respond to any of teh buttons being pushed

Try doing a soft reset. 1. Press and hold the Power on/off key and the volume + key for a couple of seconds. 2. Then switch on the GoGear using the Power on/off key. Note: Your songs and data will not be lost or corrupted by a soft reset. Update your players firmware to the latest version to reduce the chance of future hang-ups. (

Gogear sa5125/37 lost softwear got from site still dont work

Download the user's manual also from the website - it will let you know what to do next. I have written an article that you can see in the "Tips & Tricks" section on how to download songs to your Mp3 player using Windows Media Player 11.  Make sure you get the firmware update before using Windows Media Player 11, however: Philips issued a firmware upgrade for this model to correct the freezing issue.  You can't use the version of the Philips Device Manager that came on the installation CD.  You have to go to, enter your country, enter your model #, click on SA 6045/37 without the B, and click on the Software & Drivers link.  Within the software & drivers link, you must download the link underneath "Device/Firmware Manager" - this will give you the latest version of the Device Manager.  Using the new Device Manager, connect your mp3 player to the computer and click on the "Update" button within the Philips Device Manager.  This will upgrade your player's firmware, and fix the freezing issue.

Computer did not see my Philips GOFEAR SA6045 after installation

Only perform this procedure if you have also downloaded the Device/Firmware Manager from the Philips website first:

Recovery Mode for Philips' GoGear
Disconnect the player from the PC, and make sure the mp3 player is turned off. Hold in the volume + button on the mp3 player, and reconnect the player to your pc while holding in the volume + button. Continue holding the volume + for 10-15 seconds until a "Found New Hardware Wizard" pops up. It should recover your device if there isn't anything internally wrong with the player. Warning: this procedure will result in your songs being erased off the player, so they will have to be reloaded.

Nothing works

Does it say Philips and then go dark? If so, try pushing the reset button. Mine did this yesterday, because I did a complete erase. I had to push the reset a couple of times, then it started working again. I'm back in business, and listening to my songs as I type this.

Is your battery charged fully? Did you let it charge via your computer?

Go Gear Not Responding

Open up the device manager program.

Push the reset button on the device with a pin.

Press and hold the Vol + button whilst plugging into the PC.

Device Manager should go into repair mode.

Follow the on-screen prompts.

When finished, disconnect usb and reconnect quickly. Player should say loading, and then go into transfer mode.

Disconnect and reconnect player again. Screen should say

Repair is now complete.

* If player flashes "Initializing" & "GoGear" alternately, then resatart the process again. If it still doesn't work then there's not much else you can do.

Keeps on switching off and on not getting the menu option

the lock display means that u accidentally pushed up the lock button... the lock button is on the top left side of the mp3 and u slide it DOWN to UNlock. its probably switching off because whenever u run out of batteries it automatically switches off to save energy. and u hve to charge it for 5hrs b4 u can start using it... so that might be why its not working all that gr8 anymore.
