Hi, I just bought the Sabrina Spellbound CD-ROM which is compatible for Windows 95/98, but I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista. It won't launch, please help!!!

Have you tried running the game in compatibilty mode? If not follow these steps.

1. Navigate your way to "My Computer" > "Local Disk (usually C:) > "Program Files (x86)" > and then the folder the program is stored in.

2. Right-click on the program launch icon and left-click on properties.

3. Click on the "Compatibility" tab.

4. Check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"

5. Click on the arrow pointing down and select a previous version of Windows which you know the game is compatible with.

6. Click on "OK", and try to run the game again.

Hope this helps. If not, let me know the outcome and I'll try to assist you further.

Hello Witonada, what type of driver issues are you having, Windows 7 comes loaded with a compatibility assistant that will install native xp or vista drivers for windows 7. to do so put the driver on your desktop, right click and choose the capability assistant then select try recommended settings, This option allows us to test run the program to see if the new compatibility settings fix the issue. Click on Start the program to begin testing it out. After testing the program and determining if the settings work or not click on Next. This will finish your new installation. In some instances the assistant may ask if the program worked in another platform say yes and choose windows xp sp3. walla your all set .

I have a copy of starcon 3 but it won't install on my computer my os is windows 7 but it says that the game isn't compatable with my version of windows

Hi, welcome to Fixya. I hope my info helps you.
What it said is true. Starcon 3 is an OLD game, with compatability with win 95, and DOS. I think there may be a way for you to get to work though, right click on the installer program, and put the program in compatability mode, and tell it win 95 for the o.s. If that doesn't work, then download a program called DOSBOX, and run the installer with it, Dosbox is designed for just this sort of thing.
I hope that you do get it to work, as Starcon 3 was a really good game when it came out.

I'm trying to run my Hypertech ECON programmer for my 2010 Silverado, when I install the disk it gives me a error code 2869 and exits me out of the install. Am running WIndows 7

It seems that Windows 7 is not compatible with this program and thus the error 2869.
1.run the program in the Program Compatibility Assistant utility in Windows 7.
then select the caption that says it ran on a previous Operating system ( that is Windows XP/ Vista etc. and select the radio dial to the left and click apply.
Instruction from Windows help:
Run the Program Compatibility troubleshooter
Click to open the Program Compatibility troubleshooter.

Follow the instructions in the troubleshooter.

If you cannot install a program, insert the installation disc for the program and, using the troubleshooter, browse to the program's setup file, usually called Setup.exe, Install.exe, or something similar. The troubleshooter is not designed to work on programs that have an .msi file name extension.

I can't upload john deere drive green on my computer witch runs vista but it worked on the inlaws computer which is XP and the game says it should work on vista

Hello, If you have a program running programs since you've started using Vista, you may be able to fix that easily by running the program in XP mode.
Step 1
Locate the program you want to run, right click on the program's icon on the desktop, or in the start menu.
Step 2 Once you right click on the icon, click on properties at the bottom of the window that comes up.
Step 3 In properties, click on the Compatibility tab. Check "run this program in compatibility mode" and select Windows XP in the drop down menu. Also at the bottom of the compatibility tab, check "run this program as administrator".
Running as administrator will cause windows to ask if it's okay to open the program everytime you click to open the program. Nothing wrong with it, but just be aware.

I bought keyboardworks v1.1 it worked fine for my old xp computer. Now I switched to windows 7 and it does not work. Any fixes?

Since this software was designed to work with Windows XP or earlier. It may not run in windows 7 normally, but you can run this application in Compatibility mode.

Windows 7 comes with Program Compatibility troubleshooter, using which you can run older programs in compatibility mode.
To run the Program Compatibility troubleshooter

1. Open the Program Compatibility troubleshooter by clicking the Start button and then clicking Control Panel.

2. In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click Troubleshooting.

3. Under Programs, click Run programs made for previous versions of Windows.

4. This would scan the computer for incompatible applications and list them, keyboardworks .

5. Click next. this will try running in Windows XP mode.

6. If sucessful save the setting and u should be good to go, else try installing this application in Compatibility mode.

7. right-click choose properties on setup.exe

8. click on compatibility tab. put a check on run this program compatibility mode for and choose windows XP

9. put a check on run this program has administrator. cluick apply and ok and install this application.

10. run the application, if it does not work repeat the steps 1-6.

Medieval lords not running

Hello wilsonpaul74

As far as I know, there isn't a patch for Windows 7. Have you tried running it in compatibility mode? There are two ways to do this:

OPTION 1 - TROUBLESHOOT COMPATIBILITY

1. Right click on the programs shortcut, .EXE file, or installation program, and click on Troubleshoot compatibility. N.B. You will not have the Troubleshoot compatibility option available for pinned items in the Start Menu or on the Task Bar.

2. The wizard will now give you a list of options to choose from. Try each individual option, following the on-screen instructions.

If this doesn't work, you can try the following option.

OPTION 2 - THROUGH THE PROPERTIES PAGE

1. Right click on the programs shortcut, .EXE file, or installation program.

2. Click on Properties.

3. Click on the Compatibility tab.

4. Check the Run this program in compatibility mode for box.

5. Click on the drop-down menu arrow, and select which version of Windows the game was made for. N.B. Always pick the latest Windows version the game was made for a better chance of it running properly.

I hope this helps. If you require further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

Vista's Compatibility assistant is known to have a lot of bug.

if it didn.t work then
Press the keyboard combination "Windows Key +R"
you will have run dialogue box
type in "services.msc"
in the window that appears look for "Program compatibility assistant" and then disable it.
now restart your computer and try installation
it will be fine

its recommended that you switch your os to windows 7 from vista as windows 7 is more bug free and crash is unlikely to happen

This means this program not compatible with Vista.

You need to uninstall the program, and reboot the system.

Now there is a way to install with XP compatibility, 80% of the time this will work. (if this does not work, you will just have to find the version of the program that works with Vista)

To install with XP compatibility:
Running the Vista Program Compatibility Wizard 1) Click on Start
2) Click on Control Panel
3) Click on Programs
4) Click on Use an older program with this version of Windows.
5) Then just follow the instructions in the Wizard.

Insert the installation disc for the program. Open the Compatibility Wizard. In the Wizard, browse to the program's setup file (Setup.exe, Install.exe, etc.)
