I have a phillips 32pt740h37a hd tv purchased in 2004. TV has been working fine cut on today and had a faint red picture. 30 min. later no picture but have sound. Anyone have an idea as to problem.
Sounds like you have a problem with the red drive circuit. try checking the red output trans on the CRT socket also the resistors. If the trans checks out. Then some troubleshooting of the red drive is whats needed.Let me know if you need any additional help with this issue
I ran into this problem before and I can tell you what parts to check/replace - if you know how to do that. Since it took me hours of troubleshooting time, I would expect to be compensated a small cash fee for this info, but I don't know how this works on this site.

Sounds like we have the same problem with a similar Television, I'm attempting to fix a Westinghouse LTV-32w4HDC that has a great picture and sound for about 10 min max. then the screen goes almost completely black(you can make out the red colors somewhat) and the sound is just fine. From other posts on the internet I'm trying to replace the T-CON board. I just ordered one from www.tvpartsguy.com for 25.00 +$10 shipping. I'll post back when it comes in and if that solved the problem. My TV only has four boards in it: T-CON, Main, Inverter and Power board. T-CON seems like the most likely canidate from other posterings and it was the cheapest. Next likely canidate will be the Inverter board I guess. If you have a phillips screw driver and ahve ever taken apart a desktop computer this T.V. shouldn't be a problem ( if you feel uncomfortable, take lots of pictures first so you know how it all goes back together).
ok your tv does not come with the very best sound, you have to get a receiver 7.1 or you can use the optical wire , that's if the system you are using has that option.
I have the same problem. Picture cuts out completely then back on. When I first turn it on, it does this constantly for about 15-20 mins, then about once every 30 mins or so.The sound is fine, but the picture just flashes on and off. The color is also starting to shift a lot and cannot be fixed by adjusting COLOR-BRIGHTNESS-PICTURE in the video control menu system. Nothing seems to correct this. I've even unplugged the TV over night to see if it needed some sort of reset. Model = KV-20FV12. Purchased in 2004 My connection is a direct cable connection - Comcast cable. Same problem persist while showing a DVD as well.
Hi,
We purchased a phillips plasma 50" in july 06 and it cut on and off 5 or more times a day I called phillips customer service they told us it was due to the cable company they came out and changed the tv jack gave us a new box and tested the lines said everything was ok. The problem still kept happening got back to phillips and they sent us a flash drive to update the info in the tv. still kept happening told us it was due to tv being sensitive to power flutuations. well we are now 5mths out of warrenty and the power board blows up! phillips will not do anything to help the person I spoke with admitted we were given bad advice the bill was estimated at over $500 so if I were you if its still under warrenty make them send someone out to look at it, Reading up on phillips tv complaints this seems to be a common thing By the way phillips customer service sucks dont rely on them to help you much. good luck
