This sounds like a power issue. Check the power cord going to the monitor. Make sure it is fully plugged in. Make sure the receptacle is good and the wiring at that receptacle is tight and secure. Try another receptacle to be sure. Make sure the cord going from the computer to the monitor is secure and tight. You say this is a new computer. If so, then take it back where you bought it if you cannot find the problem.

where do you "gurus" get your info????
quit leading people with BULL! this is another classic capacitor issue.

  • NOT ME Apr 08, 2011

Who cares if it is a capacitor issue or something else. Does not matter why it is doing what it is doing. It is a New computer that is still under warranty if you have read the post before spouting off. Let the manufacture deal with it, just like I said. The last thing you want to do is open up a No BULL, just the facts. Of course this was posted almost 16 months ago so you are so behind on this one it is pathetic.

If you able to start in the safe mode then Scan your computer for viruses. Some viruses can cause a black Screen , especially ones that infect the master boot record (MBR) or boot sector.

When connecting the projector to a Dell Latitude 5520 Laptop(with Windows 7)with docking station the screen goes black on the computer and the projector does nothing. Is this a driver problem?

It may be that the drivers are outdated, ie compatible with Win XP but not Win 7.
What you could try, if not already done:
Start>Printers and Devices>
Right-click the projector icon, select troubleshoot.
Also select drivers, compatibility to see if any errors are reported.
The black screen may be your video card or CPU transferring all video data to the projector port to conserve RAM.
Failing all the above, I can only suggest you visit the projector website and look for the latest up-to-datest drivers for Windows 7.

Black Screen after installing new NVidia 9400GT

Put the old card back in, remove the old drivers and restart it in VGA mode.
You don't say what operating system you use, but XP & Vista you should be able to hit F8 before the windows splash screen to select VGA mode or Safe Mode.
Once you do that you should be able to put the new card in and start it in standard VGA mode then load the new drivers.

I have a flickering screen that goes black and when plugged back in is okay for short period of time.

The first thing I'd try is new cables on both the video and the power. I'd check with a different PC or notebook computer too, just to make sure it isn't the video card.

Acer 22 in monitor

From what you say, I'll assume you see stuff on the monitor like the BIOS info, and the Windows splash screen. Then it goes black.
This happens when Windows loads the video drivers for your video card. Up until that point, you are using generic VGA drivers. I would guess the drivers are corrupt and the video card just stops working when it tries to access them.
You'll need new drivers for your card (you'll need to determine that--you can ask me directly by clicking on my name if you need help there). Then you'll need to start your computer in safe mode and remove the video card from the device manager. Depending on the directions you have for your video card, you may have to tell the computer not to install drivers when you restart your computer, but run the install program first.
