I have a conversion kit for my NG gas range to go to LP. THere is a warning stating not to attempt to change over a range that has a lower oven. Mine has a lower broiler. Can I change it over?

Do I just need to change over the pressure regulator from NG to LP setting?

  • mamanance Dec 12, 2009

That's what I thought. Thank you

  • mamanance Dec 13, 2009

Ok, Changed the regulator and got the orifices in. The burners work great, no problem

However, I tried to adjust the air shutter for the oven flame, but I can't get it to just a nice little blue flame. I keep getting blue with a lot of white/yellow and when I put the range back together and tried the oven at 350 I got serious flames coming into the oven through the bottom shelf vents. I'm not thinking this is good. Please help. I would like to be able to bake. Thanks

How do I decrease the magnificent size of the oven flames? Opening the air flow certainly turns them from yellow to blue, but they remain 3-5 or 6 inches in length. Do I need to adjust the oven "Orifice Hood/Spud"? or something?

I can replace the oven spud with one of the old burner spuds? The level of flame on the stove top burners seems to be spot on with the new spuds.

The warning would apply to a broiler, it has to do with the burner, both an oven and a broiler use the same gas burner, just use it for a different purpose, so the answer is no you can't install it safely. Check with the LP gas supplier for the proper kit to use this unit, if one exists they will know.

The warning is there because using LPG (which is heavier than NG and has a lower pression) increases dramatically the risk of explosion in case the oven is malfunctioning (or is operated incorrectly). So yes, you can, but you must be careful from now on when using and maintaining it.

The white-yellow big flames are caused by less than optimum air intake - enlarge the air scoop.

If the flames are that long there's definitely too much gas - either reduce the pressure even further or use another spud (range orifice) with a smaller diameter of the hole - they aren't adjustable, they're just a brass screw with a hole. You could try using one of the older burner ones.

CAN a ZANUSSI gas cooker be converted to utilize NG ? Without affecting its programs and controls ?

usually any gas cooker can be converted as long as the gas jets are changed to the right size. they also have to be the right fitting. it would involve a lot of work as you will need to get into the nitty gritty of the gas lines inside the cooker and if you make a mistake it can cost to get it fixed.

Need to convert nat gas to lp gas have a in the counter cook top

Most manufacturers of gas appliances offer conversion kits to make switching between LP and NG fuels for ranges, dryers, etc. relatively painless.

First, you'll need to collect the manufacturer's name, appliance model and serial numbers. Then, contact your choice of either the place of purchase, or shop the part to authorized parts resellers in your locality or internet for the correct kit and best price. Use only parts designed for use in your particular appliance.

I hope this helps & good luck! Please rate my reply - thanks.

Thanks for the crazy question: Microwave ovens don't run on gas, only on electricity. Maybe you want to post under a different model name and number.

I have an old model #12 gas Fryer and I want to convert it to propane. What do I need to do?

Unless the original manufacturer offers a conversion kit, do not attempt this yourself. It requires changing the orifice in the regulator, but requires someone experienced and certified with gas appliances to get the correct one. Experimenting in this case could be very dangerous.

Hi! I am converting my Maytag oven to propane from natural gas. I've flipped the cap at the main (n to lp) and snugged down all the orifices at the four burners, so far so good. But I am not sure if the...

Hi Kim,
First of all, read and follow all the safety instructions in your installation and operations booklets.
If Maytag recommend that only a certified gas fitter should do this conversion, then follow the advice.
If you are a certified gas fitter you would know the answer.
There are too many variables to take into account for this type of conversion like altitude, propane pressure regulation, age and wear of the stove, state of repair of all supply pipework, proximity to open flames in the area like water heater pilot lights. Leaking propane is heavier than air and will collect at the lowest part of the home like the basement where the open flames might be.
So my best advice is to ask a certified/ticketted gas fitter to do the job or check what you have done and ensure that everything complies with all local codes.
"If in doubt don't" is great kindergarten advice for everything which is potentially risky.
I hope this helps,
jenni.

What do I change when I go from propane gas to natural gas on my Maytag mgr5870bdw Do I change something or do I adjust something? HELP ! Chuck

You will need to change the gas orifice for the type of gas you'll be using. You also may have to change the gas regulator, but you should check the installation manual for details.

You can also contact Maytag by calling 1-800-688-9900 to get the exact part numbers you'll need to make the conversion correctly.

Hope you found this helpful and best regards!
