Re: changing belt on vacuum cleaner
If you can't see the motor shaft then you will have to take the top cover off. Some have a couple of scres to remove from the bottom. Then is a slot on each side, from the bottom put a flat blade screwdrive in the slot and push out and up to release the locking tabs. The knob may pop off so watch for that coming off. Put the belt on the brush roll, then feed the belt up thru the opening and stretch it to go over the motor shaft. Put back together.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Hello, Rather than try to explain this procedure by typing it, I'll give you a link to an online guide with pictures that show the procedure. You'll see two links on the page regarding belts , look at both and use the one that is closest to your model. Hope this helps.
http://geeksquad.fixya.com/ThreadView.aspx?prdid=0&thid=825812 Generic problem for all Vacuums Instructions on changing a belt Posted by ed_maxwell on Jul 24, 2008 Instructions on changing a belt on an Elite Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Model # v5075-930 Serial # 089500053577 Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Knowing the brand name and model number for the vacuum but I can give you a generic way of changing the belt. You 1st need to remove the bottom plate by screws, levers or clips, then you can get @ the belt, if not then you should remove the top cover and then you can get @ the belt. 1st remove the belt from the brushroll and install the new belt on the pulley side of the brushroll and then use a belt puller or a screwdriver with a bend on the end and then stretch the belt onto the motor pulley and then track the belt in a straight line so that is running in a straight line. Replace the bottom plate and the belt change should be done. Please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. http://www.hoover.com Telephone Contact our Customer Service Department at 1.330.499.9499 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. EST Thanks, Don the Vac Man Go Ahead. http://geeksquad.fixya.com/ThreadView.aspx?prdid=0&thid=728341 Generic problem for all Vacuums I have a Hoover Vacuum Posted by Jimbob48 on Jul 01, 2008 I have a Hoover Vacuum Cleaner, Runabout Supreme, on which the belt has broken. I purchased a new belt, part number 38528-040. I need some instructions on how to install the replacement belt? Thank you.JBS Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Usually there are screws, clips or levers on the bottom of the vacuum and you need to either remove the bottom plate and once you have taken the screws, etc. out the top cover will come off. And then you can proceed with the removal and the install of the new belt. 1st you need to remove @ least one end of the Hoover brushroll and take of the old belt and slide on a new belt. Once the belt is on the pulley side of the brushroll; then re-install the brushroll. Make sure that the brush is spinning freely B4 you install the new belt, then take a belt puller or a screwdriver with a left or right hand hook to use as a belt puller and then stretch the belt onto the motor pulley, then take and roll the belt until it is tracking straight and then re-install the top cover and or the bottom plate, tighten down the screws, levers or clips. So, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. http://www.hoover.com Telephone Contact our Customer Service Department at 1.330.499.9499 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. EST Thanks, Don the Vac Man Go Ahead. Hover does not list by model number. You will have to look on the back of your cleaner, on the same sticker as the model number, is a manufacturing code (MFG Code) or Serial Number. Go to Hover’s web page http://www.hoover.com/CustomerService/Manuals/Default.aspx and you will be able to download the correct manual free of charge.
I'm more specialized in Kenmore vacuums, but I believe there should be 2 screws at the bottom of the vacuum. You will need to remove these 2 screws to be able to remove the bottom cover. Once the bottom cover is removed, you should be able to access the belt and agitator.
You can try thehooverstore.com, or call a repair shop and I am sure they can order for you. Doubt that you will find a (#56511A01)manual tho. The hose part #43434268 and will sell for around $15 to $20. Dusting brush #43414145 $8 to $10. Extentsion tube #38634678 about $5. Furniture nozzle #38614029 about $5. Crevice tool #38617024 about about $5. Hope this helps.
