Question about Philips 55PW9363 55" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Phillips hdtv I had work done yesterday on my cable. Now my tv will not switch between 1080 and 480 automatically. I have to view 480 on another input. I did not have to do this before. Could there be something hooked up incorrectly or should the tv controll this.

Does the RCA TV model D52W20 have a digital tuner? or will I need a cable box to watch TV? At our location they just switched the signal. we just had a tube TV with the cable line in the back and up till...

Greetings Pete - No, your display is what is called HDTV ready, meaning it needs a separate tuner AKA set top box.

You need to get the cable box, plug in the component video cables into your TV (usually provided) and plug in audio cables and you're viewing HDTV. See below:

I have a 19" phillips lcd tv and when i turn the tv on the phillips screen comes up but when it is going the show the channel it shut off by itself how can i fix this problem?

Hello. I may be able to assist you. If you are using a direct cable connection from the wall outlet;
  • Check the incoming cable or antenna signal connection to ensure that it is properly secured to the TV's antenna input.
  • If the connection is good, perform the automatic installation again to search for all available channels.
If you are using a coaxial connection from the Cable or Satellite box to the TV;
  • Set the TV to the channel specified by the service provider.
  • Change the channels at the Cable or Satellite box to view the program.
If you are using a video connection (CVBS, S-Video, YPbPr, HDMI) from the source (DVD, Cable or Satellite box) to the TV;
  • You do not need to perform automatic installation to search for the channels.
  • Press the 'SOURCE' 071218044349_22024.gif button on the remote control repeatedly to select the correct input source.
If you are using an HDMI connection from the source (DVD, Cable or Satellite box) to the TV;
  1. Reset the TV and source by unplugging it from the power outlet for 30 seconds.
  2. Turn on the TV and press the play button on your source device. If the source is HDMI CEC compliant, the TV will automatically switch to the HDMI input.
  3. If your source is not HDMI CEC compliant, turn on the TV and switch to the HDMI input.
  4. Turn on your source.
If you are sure you have selected the correct input or channel but still have no picture or sound;
  • Try resetting the TV by unplugging it from the power outlet for 30 seconds.
  • Press the 'SOURCE' 071218044349_22024.gif button to select the correct input source.
  • Check the connection cables.
  • Try the connected source with another TV.
  • Connect a different source on the same connection of your TV.

Philips 55P8288A tv has a dull color and a red hue.

This sounds Like the the coolant for your piture tube has become cloudy and needs replacement (usually blue or green tube - thats why the image seems ovrely red).It's a big job (labour wise) since completee dissassembly is required ($200-300). It can be done youreself - check out to get the coolant and instructions.
You can confirm that this is the problem by dissassembling the unit to the point where you can view the face of the CRT's (red green and blue) directly.

I am getting a blue screen that says mode not supported when I try to view HD channels

This usually indicates that you are trying to watch a screen in a higher resolution than the Tv will actually handle

I am trying to install a phillips apapter RF modular to a televison. I have no idea whether to hook it up to the cable box or the TV. To be honest am not sure where the input cords go. Phillips SWS2326W/17

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, the video (yellow) and audio (red & white) OUTPUTs of the cable box should go to the Video/Audio INPUTs of the RF Modulator. Thereafter, the TV should be set to Channel 3 (or whatever it is the RF Mod is using). This is done if and only if the TV has no A/V INPUTs and/or the cable box has no RF OUTPUT.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

Just bought a new HDTV, a Phillips to be exact. While swaping between the guide screen and the actual channel your watching, the screen size keeps adjusting. Is this due to a specific setting on the tv,...

Some tv's have a setting in the menu that automaticly switches picture size. Going back and forth from picture to guide may be triggering this setting. You may be able to go into the menu and turn it off.

How do I get HD broadcasts on a Phillips 60PP9352 TV that's 'HD ready'?

Im guessing your in the UK.
Asking about HD as you havent stated what country you are in.

Ok You will need the following to be able to watch HD pictures on your tv set.
Either Sky HD which involves having a dish fitted. Or Virgin cable system which is not available all over the country.
If you go to either of these systems you will need to pay a subscription to view the HD channels.

Problem w60 inch using hdtv cable box

i know this problem, happened to me with the comcast Motorola HD receiver box. The key is with the setting in the cable box. Switch on the TV. Set the channel to normal tuner channel 3 or HD input. Turn off the cable HD box. Press the Menu Button on the Cable box or the remote. You should see a Menu. Use the cursor keys to navigate The default setup is also one of the option, Right click on your cursor keys acts like the computer keyboard enter key and applies the change. The default setup is 16:9, the shacking would happen if you have set the picture type to "PAN SCAN". change it to either 16:9 or 4:3 Letter Box. The shacking should stop. Hope it helps.
