Mitsubishi WS-65313 Screen burn-in

I've a 5 yr old 65 in Mitsubishi WS-65313. It is starting to show the burn-in lines on the sides due to 4:3 (black bars). I'm not an expert. Is the burn-in on the screen itself (vs. lamps)? Is it the diamond-shield, screen-lenticular or the lens-freshnel the part that is burnt (i.e. the phosphorous) piece? Any points will be appreciated. If I buy the part is it ''simple enough'' to replace it myself? or is it better to have an expert do that work? Thanks in advance!!

Thanks for the info. I am no expert on this, because of that I would have thought the phosphor was on the glass itself (the screen), but you are saying it is not the glass/screen itself but the tubes themselves? The screen itself (diamond-shield, screen-lenticular or the lens-freshnel) should all be OK? Thanks again.

IF you have the area on either side of the picture used in the 4x3 burned---it is now burnt into the phosphor of all three picture tubes this set uses.

The real problem here is most of these sets the default setting for contrast or "picture" (same thing) is 100% and this is what burns fixed images into the tubes.

Pretty stupid, but that is how they are made--the black background in later models was replaced with a light gray one to try to prevent this.

If you do not have a warranty live with it--the cost of the three tubes would be about 900 dollars plus labor to replace them and adjust the set.

It takes less than 100 hours of use with the 4x3 up to cause this kind of problem, just like putting a fixed image on any projection set with full contrast and brightness set full--the damage is permanent.

I have replaced tubes in sets like this and when you get the tube out you can see the BURN in the phosphor.

I am sorry to give you bad news but based on your description this is what you have.

If this helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

To me, it is entirely egregious on Mitsu's end to make a set that default's settings to max by default or when the set is powered off and back on unbeknownst to the common user like myself. Too bad none of this was covered by the people who sold me the tv. I'm not a litigious person but spending $4k to now see permanent damage that could have EASILY been avoided is quite unfortunate. Mitsu shol dbe held responsible as I'm not the only one who's been adversely impacted by buying this mistake-of-a-set. P'od. KF

I do not see any way to divide main wooden box of TV as you can remove front screen and back cover of TV but main cabinet of TV still remain the same.

Mitsubishi WS-65313 65 in. TV will no longer power up.

You should call a good TV Tech. This problem cannot be solved by a consumer. The one thing you might try is to unplug it from the wall for a few minutes and then try it again.

Mitsubishi WS-65313 Blinking Screen

Does your system have hdmi input. If so hook up cable box, if it has hdmi, to the tv and see if that works.
If that clears up your problem you have a problem with the av board or boards.
I have found that most of the newer systems do not like the voltage and frequency from xboxes, playstations, or computers very well using the rca out and in.
Let me know what you find out. I might have a better solution for you.
