Question about Panasonic PV-GS35 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

I have blue striped lines on the playback screen and viewfinder in playback mode. This happens with all of my tapes, so must be a problem with the camcorder. Any suggestions?

yes, it is digital tape, so could be the head needs just so I understand, used finger nail polish remover, and just try to wipe the heads with it with a rag or cue tip? not sure I know exact where the heads are...are they just the spinning things that hook into the middle of the digital tape when I insert the tape, or something else? thank you.

Not a lot you can do yourself ,the problem is the picture controling chip is malfunctioning ,either find another old one somewhere and canibalise and make one out of two or invest in a new one ,just noticed comment again ??tape ?? then it could also be the head malfunctioning, try cleaning head with some nail varnish remover and try that as well .If that doesnt work put it in a boot sale (garage sale) and use the cash towards a new one

the square looking head in teh middle ,their is another head for wiping the tape too one side ,but just the main head that writes the magnetic information and reads it .Threw one of these cams that had the head in it but didnt work away last week ,because its more expensive to repair than buying a new one ,its just that the lenses on these older machines are far superior to the new digital ones unless you pay megabucks for one ,Then someone gave me another one a different make that works fine on the power pack but i cant seem to find a new battery for it ,so i will have a look aroiund the sunday boot sales ,might find a secondhand one that works.Anyway best of luck with it

Ag-dvc20p blue stripes in play back mode

Blue stripes in playback is an indication that you need to clean the heads. A Panasonic cleaning tape should work fine.

Sony CCD-TRV65. Blue screen during playback

Just bought the exact one from a yard sale for 20 bucks. Had the very same problem with the blue screen on playback. What i did is replace the battery in the small bay when you open the viewfinder. Try playing your tape again and it will work!

LCD shows stripes thus the picture is not complete

Mine was similar - with vertical black lines on playback. Visit, enter your make and model and ask for a head cleaner. They sent me one within 4 days and that was over the Christmas period. Reasonably priced too (£3.50 + p&p) and the whole head cleaner can be used up to twice once the tape has gone from beginning to end.

Blue screen on playback on Sony DCR-HC40

You can see an image in a camcorder viewfinder any time the camera's actually on in record mode, whether or not the camcorder is actually recording. So that's no guarantee.

Assuming the obvious (you have the right kind of tapes, they're not in write-protect mode, you rewind before playing, etc). I recommend that you borrow a tape of the same kind from someone else and check it on playback in your camcorder. This should lead you know understand if you have a playback problem or a recording problem.

Assuming you don't see any video through the viewfinder, it could be that the CCD has died on that camcorder. It happens, though not frequently.

If the video though the viewfinder is clear, there might be some sensor on the lens ring to indicate a lens cap, or an automatic lens cap not properly disengaging when put in record mode.

Try to playback the tape and the screen is all blue

your heads motor ( drum ) cable may have have come loose or is dirty - since the cleaning tape made some difference the heads were dirty or almost worn out ( cleaner tape is abrasive ) so now there isn ' t enough signal ; if your date and time display worked only in play ? ( still works for camera record video ) your guides were out of alignment - and the cleaning tape took your guides even further out of alignment ( alignment here starts at $ 50 + shipping )
